Really? I tried listening to it after I made my review for it, and I think it's the lyrics that spoil it for me. He sounds like he is forced to sing it. Haha. The ending is the most bearable part. Haha

'Here Eye Come' is a little bit much of a 'Work' to appeal. "O I feel like that little dirty blonde girl, in 9 & 1/2 weeks" That line made me watch the movie, which is awesome! Haha

REALLY? Immersion is boring to you? I think that is a 'dreamy' song...lol. "Very adept in the art of hearing.." The lyrics are beautiful and it sounds like something out of a poetry book. Haha..But I get where you are coming from! smile

I'll listen to "Immersion" again.. I haven't played it since it first came out, but I found it unbearable back then.

I fully understand why people hate "Another Like Me", but it's just supposed to be a fun song, and it's better than his other recent "fun" songs (like "Everybody Loves Me"), imo

The whole Lotusflow3r project was an absolute masterpiece. The concept, the website(which allowed me 2 c him live three shows in one night & The trio of 2nite shows with Jay Leno & Ellen & yes eye did get my T-shirt also giggle ) It was a nightmare figuring out the password 2 get through 2 the site on opening day. But everything dealing with Prince is not easy. But the satisfaction afterwards is well worth it.My only complaint is that he ended & gave up on the promotion of the LotusFlow3r project too soon. But it still was a gr8 success with a debut of #2 with only one retailer & a gold album.

Every live per4mance was top notch. The "Helicksher" inclusion was like an xtra Prince alter ego.

I'd say "The Rainbow Children" is the prelude to this album, as far as production is concerned. It doesn't feel like there was an overlap between the two albums, it sounded like they were recorded during the same period. Def a top notch production.

I put these two albums together as well, as far as disc 1 of LF is concerned. Both are his best records from the 1st decade, but I don't think they were recorded around the same time. I feel most of LF is from around 2006/2007, tho' I am sure some experts can correct me.

Great thread Jester.

Great review/discussion of the album! I agree with you that Elixer has some good songs, especially Here Eye Come. MPLSound is the only disappointment to me. Like you say, it has a great title, so I expected some really great songs.

The production does sound very similar but, as far as I know, the 3121 sessions and the Lotusflower sessions, or at least some of them, took place at the same time.

I really enjoyed watching this, and I´ll repeat what I said before about you...it is very refreshing to see someone who´s still very enthusiastic about Prince and his music and who shrugs off the bad songs with a simple "Shit happens" attitude while still pointing out the positive aspects. And you pay a lot of attention to details. I like that.

Plus your outfit looks sharp. lol

Keep doing what you´re doing.

Nice voice and attitude.

Thank you VERY MUCH! smile I have learned to pay attention to the details of his music, and for those aspects that are not my taste, I just point it out and keep on moving. I am not one to focus on, one minor detail when the major details, says a whole lot more. "Shit and shift" does happen..lol. Such is Life! smile It should not be the end of the world of his music, and the worst possible thing to happen just because it disappoints me. Haha. smile The positive aspects is what made me, have the desire to purchase the album in the first place. smile Thank you very much again!

I always got to look fresh and presentable even if it's a camera. Lol I can lay back and low, but that's when I am to myself in the square of my 'Laylow' but my definition of looking 'Regular' is different than most. Haha. One guy recently asked me: "Do you have regular clothes" Haha..I do, but my definition of regular is once again different. lol. AND thanks for the words about my voice and attitude!

Thank YOU! AHH! I just realized your name came from one of my favorite songs!! How could I not even pick that UP? lol.

Yeah, 'Immersion' is an interesting song. I think Prince wrote that for Bria. The lyrics seem as if he is telling the story how she became a 'Jehovah's Witness'. Haha. "Very adept in the art of listening..."I have my own conclusion on that, I wouldn't want to get carried away though...lol

I guess it's a fun song! It didn't manage to work for me. 'Everybody Loves Me' works in a sense because it reminds me of the MPLSOUND. In my opinion it should have been on MPLSound. It fits the title lol

Thank you for your comment and insight! smile

You are so lucky to see him ALL of those times! How was that even possible? Haha..I wish I could have seen him on one of the many days you seen him. lol. AWESOME you got the T-shirt! The website worked excellent for you then!! Haha It sure did reach GOLD! As with Prince often, he never seems to give his projects the extent he should. If he would have allowed this 'Lotus' to grow some more months it would have been fantastic. It's an incredible concept! Indeed, those live performances were just in another gear.

I never seen "Helicksher" as a alter ego...I guess it could be seen that? lol

Thank you! I appreciate your insight very much! Shelby J fits right for him. I am just another purple admirer. smile This is an excellent concept, that I think will get a lot love as soon as time passes! smile

Thank you for coming by and sharing your interests and knowledge! "Here Eye Come" is the sugar. As someone said, it probably kind of sounds as if he is trying too hard to be sexy...but that sounds works! The production is stellar. How he adds the rain for 'Coming' and the way the guitar plays with the metaphors...lol. It's just AWESOME!

MPLSOUND, could have been much better for me if he got rid of: Another Like Me, Better With Time, ANd No More Candy 4 U...Everything else is good, but maybe he should have saved them for another time?

Thank you again! Love & light!

Great review and reviewer. Just listened to the 'LotusFlower' disc, which is my favorite. Truly a disc that you can put on and play all the wat thru without skipping tracks. Favorites from this disc would be 'Colonized Mind', '$', 'Wall of Berlin', 'From the Lotus Flower', 'Back to the Lotus Flower', 'Boom', 'Dreamer'. Elixer was SO slept on it's pitiful. Laid back like a Sade album, definitely. All the band tracks featured Cora and Josh and they were tight. They get ALOT of grief on the org but they were tight. Listen to "Something You Already Know"; my God, that track is so funky and tight. On the strength of that track alone, Prince could and oughta do an r&b album with them as the rhthym section. Loved all the band based tracks as well as 'Elixer'. Tis is a disc you can put on and not skip around alot. Also this is one Prince's best protege' productions EVER. Listen to the music! MPLS was alright. '2010' and 'Ol Skool' Company, 'Dance 4 Me', 'Valentina', 'There'll Neveer B' would make a great '2010/MPLS Sound redux. Also, the Michael B./Sonny T tracks, I think, were tracks from a marathon session Prince did with them prior to the '3121' album. I think they did about 15 tracks that were spread across 3 albums '3121', 'Planet Earth' and 'Lotus Flower', so far. All of the Cora and Josh tracks were exceptional. They are so slept on. They do great rock, soul, jazz and funk. Cora's drumming isn't as flashy as John Blackwell's but you have to kind of peep the inside of it; her foot on that bass drum and those licks in between and Josh holds down that bottom but can get funky when necessary, like '$' or 'Chelsea Rogers'.

I dug and still dig 'Lotus Flower'. Prince's best stuff is usually 2, 3 and hopefully 4 disc offerings.

Why are you posting these video commentaries? Do you want to be a TV journalist or radio personality?

I'm only asking because I often wonder the objective(s) people have when starting video blogs like this on YouTube, other than the usual obvious, which are quick fame and the need for attention. And since I don't think those are your reasons, I'm just curious.

And if you haven't thought about being a reporter, you should, 'cause you have the voice for it.

Cool. I like No More Candy, but otherwise go with your take. Haven't managed tog et into Elixer ever, but maybe I should give it another try (or not...).

The worst song on the set, though, is 4ever. I just can't listen to that. Although otherwise LF is my fave record of recent years.
