Rate One Nit Alone! Is it what you expected?

Personally, I love all his live recordings, but these top the cake. I rate it on a scale of 1 to 10. I give it a 9.
They did WHAT??!.... disbelief

I give it a 7. Some of the songs could have been replaced with others.

I am just glad to have a live rendition of Joy In Repitition. I have always wanted to hear him sing this live. This version is so wonderful to me. I also love this version of Adore and Dorothy Parker.

I feel Prince talks too much on ONA-Live. I'll give it 8.5

he could have replaced some of the oldies like. hcudcm, condition of the heart half of the piano medley. with some rave cuts and emancipation songs. how many ways can u play take me with u. enough of that crap. give us some fresh oldies unheard of live, like style. emale sun moon and the stars. he's just getting old when it comes 2 song selection the music is cool.

Great recording, good sound, a beautiful reminder of the ONA tour! Some songs like Sign O´The Times, Strollin, Pass The Peas or Money Don´t Matter would have fit very good
in this compilation...
And a soundcheck CD would make the whole thing complete...
But I give it a 9 out of 10 bcuz I love these 3 CD´s!

Very good, 8/10, although not as good as many of the bootlegs from the same tour.

Top tunes:
Joy In Repetition (play it over and over and over and...)
Ballad Of DP
When U Were Mine
Nothing Compares 2 U
Free (Id Like to hear him do a complete version of this live)

Worst tune:
1+1+1=3 (Bad bad version of a good live song)

Nothing that bad on here, there's other stuff Id have rather heard though ( A Case Of U, The Ladder)

On the whole though Im glad he focused on new songs on the tour. I think everyone was a bit fed up of the greatest hits tours he was putting on for the last couple of years.

As always the musicianship is second to none, and a little more crowd noise would've been nice. (7/10)

6/10. ho-hum...

Maybe it's just me, but I wish he would choose 25-28 songs and PLAY THEM.

No snippets, no medleys... just pick a different set list each night and play the songs. sure they can be different arrangements, etc... but who wants to hear a 45 second snip of Diamonds & Pearls? And mix up the sets, throw some surprises in there. Keep fans looking at the set lists each night, wondering what might get played.

Don't get me wrong, P is amazing live. But... eh. His shows are always a mix of brilliance and disappointment for me. But to each his own.

But yeah.. the box set is a good snapshot of the ONA tour. My favorite moments are Strange Relationship and When U Were Mine. And of course the Sound Quality is amazing.

Too bad he didn't just decide to release the Paris ONA show, with the rehearsal and aftershow. They rock.

I love that Prince put out a LIVE set! which is perfect.. not like some 90's album by P which are sorta over produced.. I guess if you work 90% of the day on music in your own $10 million + studio and have no problems with studio time.. you get over touchy with everything

but this Live album was nice!! I wish he would personally not do meledies.. but I love the After Show disk!

I hope Prince made a few $ on this so he does it again..

but I have a feeling maybe Crystal Ball 2 might be next out?

who knows, I just love he puts out product quick!

I give ONA 9 (because I heard a few boots that were better version.. so he gets a 9)

I'd give it an 8, its great and all.. and I heard it 24/7 the first couple of weeks, but well I can't really complain, I love it!! - I didn't expect anything, just some great music from Prince.. and it sure was great music!..Even though it was old songs (most of them) but it was great..!!!

The only thing that leaves me a little disapponted in retrospect is the Aftershow. Not because what is on there, but because of what is not. The CD runs for 55 min, could easily have put for example Calhounn Sq on there.

I agree with u that he should pick some other tunes and stop re-hashing Take Me With U etc. But to replace them with stuff from RAVE?omg R u out of your mind?nuts I would rather stick needles in my eyes and razor wire in my ears than hear that crap over any other album track. Stuff off Emancipation... hmmm maybe. But Rave? RAVE? Per-lease!!!shake

I think that ONA Live is a great gift to all the fams. Anyway I think it would be even better if he would have released a complete concerts -> just to underline the fantastic unique energy that builds up for each and every concert. On the other hand maybe somebody would criticize the selection as well.

I would have to give it a 9!!!

The whole set is amazing and even though they are selections from different concerts they are put together so well that it feels like one single concert.

The 3rd disc captures that unique feeling of an aftershow perfectly with guest appearances, long solo's and funky jammin'!!!

The first two are a great reminder of the concerts and as for the medley's, I think they're great, because so many people will have heard at least part of their favourite songs because lets face it, with the size of his back catalogue he will never please us all!!!

I also think that the whole package is very well presented and a superb example of the greatest live performer ever, alongside the best band that he has ever put together!!!

I'd give it a solid 7.5 --

The song selection could have been a lot better -- The Rainbow Children is over-represented, while Purple Rain and 1999 are barely touched upon. I love all the recent stuff, but for a first-ever live set, other songs should've made the cut.

If Prince released other live albums periodically, I would rate this one higher. But this box set is the first, and didn't quite live up to expectations IMO because it focused on recent and rare material.

The music that is on there is great though!
