Prince's voice sucks...... on the For You album !
I was listening to For You last night and i decided that i really hate prince's vocals on that album. At first i just thought it was the production but i came to the conclusion that he just doesn't sing well on that album. I do think Prince is a very good singer but on For You and on some of his 1990's stuff where he harmonizes 'weird',he doesn't sound good. What do you guys think about his vocals on that album and on prince's voice in general ?

the worst prince-linked vocals ever are morris day's and prince's own vocals on the song "girl" on the time's first album. REALLY unstomachable!! BUT okay: they were still kids in the learning back then...

One of my favourite P comps ever, but yeah, the production is plain bad! Oh how I would love for a clear Prince version of "Girl" to turn up one day. .

Good forbid someone have a different opinion than y'all, you fucking assholes.

I'm with you. I don't know what is going on in that song; it's a hot fucking mess. Prince's falsetto is nasal and bleating, Morris' voice is scratchy and hoarse.

i love for you, but i do know what your saying, i dont think the vocals on there suck by any means, but as someone else mentioned his voice was still evolving.. i love prince's falsetto, but to me his "full" voice is so much more powerful and soulful.

I thought I was the only one that felt that way. It's like Prince couldn't quite hit the note on the high parts. **--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••-

I think Prince even knows this now. Not saying the songs are bad, because they aren't. His vocals were just not on point per se. You can hear it on tracks like "Bambi." He had to "learn" to sing. **--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••-

Its ok for someone to have a different opinion, but if its baseless and has no merit, then people are going to disagree. You're just as bad as what you suggest by calling people "fucking assholes" for simply disagreeing!
Prince's vocals on "For You" cannot be decsribed as "bad". He sings with a great range, is in tune and the voice has soul. Yes, his vocals are weaker compared to later works, but this was his first album, he was very young and he was also doing everything himself. You have to cut him some slack. To say "it sucks" is overplaying it. ...we have only scratched the surface of what the mind can do...

All opinions are baseless and have no merit.
And I don't care that you disagree. But when you are rude as hell, I'm gonna call you a "fucking asshole".

We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

Prince's singing on For You is fine.. but I'm not a fan of Prince's voice in general. He may have a great vocal range or whatever, but I'm not a fan of the sound of his voice. He has had good moments vocally, and I really enjoy his singing on "Baby" and "My Love Is Forever".

They're not bad at all, but they are pretty quiet. I think he was still fairly insecure at this point. My Legacy

I laughed when I read that
At least I could stomach the Smokey Robinson comparision because of the obvious factor, but even still, both men sound nothing alike.
If somebody made a comparision between Prince and Sylvester's singing, I'd probably nod in agreement.
