Rolling Stone Reader's Poll names top ten concert films And Sign of the Times came in #9
http://www.rollingstone.c...es-0492580
I did a search and there didn't appear to be a thread on this yet, but I could be wrong. I know some people here have news tickers any time Prince is even mentioned online.
1. The Last Waltz ~The Band 2. The Song Remains The Same ~Led Zeppelin 3. Stop Making Sense ~Talking Heads 4. Woodstock ~Jimi, Janis, The Who, et. al. 5. Rattle & Hum ~U2 6. Gimme Shelter ~Rolling Stones 7. Live at Pompeii ~Pink Floyd 8. Shine A Light ~Rolling Stones 9. Sign O' The Times ~Prince 10. Bullet in a Bible ~Green Day

i haven't seen the green day one, but i've seen the rest. i've had the green day one for years but never got round to seeing it, even though it's from my favourite album of theirs
i watched stop making sense again just a couple of weeks ago. it's fucking brilliant
two scorsese flicks and two stones flicks, one of which is a scorsese flick, and neither is the best stones flick (one on one sympathy for the devil by goddard is)
i would have thought that's the way it is by elvis should have been in there though, nudging green day out. like elvis or not it's a fascinating concert movie

Good to see SOTT and Talking Heads in there, however it's all a bit too predictable a list really.

What other less predictable choices would you have made?
I have a particular fondness for this concert film, reminds me of Liberty Hall in Lawrence, KS. It was beautiful seeing this on the big screen, almost like being there...
This one was a good time...
She's put on a good show or two...
others?

yeah, even though i've not seen the green day one, that should probably be in the top 10 instead, so it's more of a classic list. shine a light is alright, but it's one of only two vaguely recent movies. i suppose since dvd and even vhs there's not been a need for a concert movie as such. in fact bullet in a bible wasn't released in theatres was it? unless it was a limited release. and was shine a light in theatres? maybe just a limited release too
