3 years ago we got digital tv from UPC

I found out that you could go to the menu on demand and there you could watch concerts of different artist for free. So I chose to watch rave unto the year 2000 and i loved it!!! Still took me a while to really discover Prince's music though,...

I'm sure that I heard his music before this on the radio but the earliest memory I have of liking his music is the "Batdance" video. At the time I was a huge Batman fan and that video received extremely heavy rotation so I almost had to like it.

I didn't become a fan until the summer of 1996 when I bought Chaos and Disorder and The Hits 1 & 2.

When Doves Cry ^^

The First Song I heard Of him Was Probably 1999, I thought "This Guy is pretty cool" but a couple Of years later I decided myself to find Some songs Of him...

I downloaded "Housequake", "Purple Rain" And "When Doves cry"

I was Like omfg shocked "Why does today Children Like Justin Bieber? What A waste!"

that just turned Everything to the back burner ^^ I'm glad that I found Prince!

I heard a few of his earlier songs from Prince and Controversy but really didn't know him.

Then I started hearing 1999 on the radion and thoughts it was kinda of cryptic.....

Then I saw the video for Automatic and was floored. That was it from there on. I was a fan.

When all the hype for P.R. came on the set I was a senior in high school and my friends and I were all excieted for every little piece we seen on the TV. Then the song and video came out for When Doves Cry. The rest is history.

it was feb or march 1983.. in my local record shop (Pladepusheren in Ã…lborg)...

I saw the double vinyl "1999".

I had it on the turntable in the shop, listening to side A and B... and I was like this: eek

THIS was something excellent I knew right away.

When Purple Rain came out I was very sceptic, could Prince repeat the excellent "1999" album... I was in doubt.

It showed he really could... and a lot more really fantastic Prince albums followed.... worship

(and here I am, ------ still a Prince fan, 30 years later - almost 30)... biggrin

1983, I was a youngin. It was the video for either 1999 or Little Red Corvette. Prince was charismatic. The music was good. The women in 1999 (I didn't know their names back them) were coming on to the camera and vaguely coming on to each other, which was something I hadn't seen before.

I liked his music for the next few years, but he wasn't my favorite. The Police and later Sting were my favorites at that time.

Then in 1987, I heard Sign o the Times. Prince became my favoriite and with the exception of a few years in the late 90s, he's been my favorite ever since.

I heard "Soft & Wet" on the radio, thought it was a female singing, said to myself, "damn, this song is funky, I want the single." Go to school (first year junior high), nearly everyone has these books covers with this guys's picture (and he has a huge afro and looks like my cousin) and his name is Prince?

Go to the "wrecka stow," I see the book covers near the door, Prince posters are the new wall paper in the windows and walls, I say to myself, "who is this guy?"

I asked the clerk for the song I heard on the radio, "I think it's called Soft & Wet."

The two worlds came together and I've never been the same.

I was 12 and my mom put in the movie Purple Rain. I didn't really care for it, but since my mom wanted to watch it, I watched it with her. I found Prince to be funny since he acted kinda girlish, but I loved the music scenes (especially the high pitch screams) the screams gave me goosebumps! Eventually I fell in love with the music 1st then the man wink

... wish I could remember that woman I had a crush on that thought her doo doo didn't stick that was listenin' to prince's Gold Experience. She's one of the reasons I'm a hardcore enthusiast now. Oh well, she was cool to talk to when we worked together.

That's how I heard that album for the first time tho ... cool

Peace ... & Stay Funky ...

I first found out just how good Prince was, after hearing Janet Jackson's song 'Don't Stand Another Chance' from her second studio album 'Dream Street'. I noticed that the song was far superior to any of the other songs on the album, and had definitely heard something similiar before. Eventually I discovered 1999 by Prince, and the rest of his greatest albums and hits and immediately realised his brilliance.

MTV. Back in the day, they used to play music all the time , believe it or not, and '1999' and 'Little Red Corvette' were aired quite a bit. I was immediately intrigued and bought the 1999 album, loved it to death, moved on to copies of Dirty Mind and Controversy. Then Purple Rain dropped and everything became the Summer of Prince.

I remember the first time I heard that opening guitar riff to When Doves Cry on the radio, followed by the thick back beat and I knew right away who it was and how awesome it sounded.
