Prince, ROBBED!!! A random Prince story... So... I was on my way to work here in Seattle and listening to an "oldies" radio station. The the morning show is 95.7 FM Seattle- an oldies station. Bob Rivers hosts this show and it's mostly talk and virtually no music.
He had Discovery Channel's "Dr. Lori," who is featured on a show called "Auction Kings." She appraises the stuff. This morning, people are calling in to the station with descriptions of their stuff and Dr. Lori tells them what it's worth.
HERE'S WHERE PRINCE COMES INTO THIS STORY...
This guy calls in and says he has a piece of jewelry- a pin- that was owned worn by Prince. This guy describes the piece as being in the shape of the White Cloud guitar and had inlayed "stones," some looking like amathysts. On the back, it was engraved, "Merry Christmas 1984 Love, Michelle."
Dr. Lori asks the obvious question..."Two questions: Was Prince ever photographed wearing the piece? And, how did you come to posess this piece?"
The guy says Prince is wearing this pin in multiple photos. The issue of how he got it was not such an easy question. At first, the guy "pleads the 5th" and says he doesn't care to say how he got it.
Dr. Lori said the story of how this pin came into his posession is important to the value of the piece.
The guy FINALLY relents and admits he had stolen Prince's pin from his dressing room at a concert venue during the 1985 "Purple Rain Tour."
Dr. Lori then said that the piece could be worth a great deal- as Prince is an icon- and isn't known for handing his most personal items- let alone, jewelry- to random back stage staff or fans. Given the fact that it's "hot merchandise," Dr. Lori says you can't sell stolen items, stupid! If Prince had indeed been photographed wearing the pin, it would be easily identified and this genius would be arrested for theft.
Dr. Lori DID SAY, however, that if he had aquired Prince's bejeweled pin by HONEST means it could be worth more than $30,000.00, even if the pin was merely costume jewelry.
What a JACKASS this guy is!!! Cool that he supposedly has an item that was allegedly owned and worn by Prince... BUT HE CAN'T DO ANYTHING WITH IT!!!

I might have to call bullshit on this guy.
I need the photo evidence that this pin was worn by him. Wasn't he wearing all the ruffle shirts back then? (of course the man does like the flashy jewelry)
And who could Michelle be?
Nah - I'm not buying it. Either he is lying or someone else lied to him about the origins of the pin.

Prince did admit on George Lopez that he gets alot of stuff stolen from him. Thanks for the laughs, arguments and overall enjoyment for the last umpteen years. It's time for me to retire from Prince.org and engage in the real world...lol. Above all, I appreciated the talent Prince. You were one of a kind.

Poor Prince always having his stuff stolen.
I believe this guy probably did steal the pin, what an asshole.
If I was to get access to his dressing room without anyone noticing (which I highly doubt would ever happen in a million years) I'd be too giddy with excitement and overrun by erotic adrenalin to even think of taking anything out with me LOL
Peace in the House of Prince.
