3121 Appreciation I cannot stop listening This Album, I think It's pretty good. I Think It has a strong latin american sound, Vybe or Whatever xD It sound very latin to me, Specially "Get on the boat"

Disagree:
I really dislikes the 3121 album,
I only like Black Sweat and the title track when played LIVE, the sound on the album, is sterile imo... still talking about the title track.
The rest of this fail album bores the hell out of me...
Lolita ok Love ok Incense & Candles yuck Get On The Boat yuck The Dance nono Fury ok LIVE, crap on the album..
I can't really not recall the rest of the titles

i think this albums kinda cool, but some of it feels like its trying too hard to be mainstream r&b, which has been really shitty sounding to me in the 00s Bogey and Bacall, peanut butter and jelly, Wall being on fucking point, is "classic" dipshit. An iphone is top shelf technology. Get it straight. This thing is 4g. -Wall the great

3121 is a true Prince classic! One of his best albums that harkens back to his glory days of the 80's. One of my personal favorites of all my Prince albums. I even love Incense and Candles! That joint is straight fire. [Edited 3/14/12 7:19am] __________________________________________________

i agree. stuff like the title track is just phenomenal. other songs are a bit hit and miss. it could have been one of his best albums but it just falls short a bit for me.
i still enjoy it much, much more than either musicology or planet earth tho. at least i'm never skipping songs from 3121. even the songs i don't care for too much are never grating or boring.
the only thing i would absolutely take off that album is "the dance". i'm probably in the minority, but i still think the original is miles better than the overdone version on 3121.
take off "the dance" and tweak some of the other songs to be just a little bit more left field and experimental and you'd have one amazing album.

much as i like "fury" on the album, he just destroyed it on snl. that performance was on fire. everything about it just worked and lifted that song to stellar hights.
the album version could only every be a bit flat after such an amazing performance of it. and true love lives on lollipops and crisps

I think it's a fine album, and I really dug the whole "house party" vibe he built around it - first in LA and then in Vegas. We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

My favourite album since The Gold Experience. Wish I'd got to go to the 3121 houseparties. Still hoping the 3121/Lotusflow3r movie will leak. 3121... Don't U Wanna Come?

Hey I am rediscovering 3121 and loving it too. I think Get on the Boat is superb, and doesn't usually get a lot of love. Stand at the crossroads, and look, and ask for the ancient paths...(Jeremiah 6:16) www.ancientfaithradio.com

I love almost the entire album ( with exception of Lolita for me)
Prince seemed to take time with the videos, toured extensively and managed to debut at number one on the billboard album chart- and eventually hit gold status. He seemed to really care about this album and promoted it well - remember the 3121 website?
3121 the studio track is signature Prince - I love the fact that he really mixed it up with the way he arranged the track live during this period.
TAC at The Brits was amazing, as was SNL 'Fury', acoustic 'Love' and NAACP 'Satisfied': fond memories
Prince show cased Tamar and showed much love to W&L and Sheila E
I agree that this was a return to form and, imho, a better album than musicology. Of course it was mainstream - Surely that was prince's intention.
Just wish The Dance had been performed live - that would've been cool

I like 3121 especially the title track, fury & I like incense and candles though a fair few dislike it the feeling U get when U fall in love not with a girl or a boy but with the heavens above

Aside from the song ''Love'', which i think is ok, I dig the hell out of this album. It was modern without sounding like everything else released at the time, and a great follow up to Musicology. From the opening synth of 3121 u know ur getting the best funk/pop/rock album of the year. I always feel a little bit disappointed though in the way he followed this album with Planet Earth but that's a discussion for another post...

SLAMMING!
3121 has become one of the albums I play often. AT first, I couldn't really get the 'Hype' of it. BUT It's really an amazing album!
My favorites have be:
3121 (Come On..REALLY? The guitar and his distorted vocals...really makes this a wonderful opening)
Te Amo Corazón (One of his BEST ballads, the strings really make this song! It's such a powerful release that speaks on so many levels!)
The Word (That guitar!! What is this new exhalation, that I just can't explain, what are these new inspirations, that I can't get out my brain..How am I going to sleep with the feeling, rushing all through my veins, get UP let's do something..don't you want to go get saved? The horns and arrangement is pretty stellar!)
Beautiful, Loved, And Blessed (Beautiful message, and constant sound and beat)
Fury (One man track! I really enjoy this much LIVE! I was very shocked that this album version did not shred as it did live. I wish he tore it down, Nevertheless it's a pretty awesome melody, but doesn't stick with you. Not memorable, but still pretty awesome)
The Dance (Vocals are perfect! Just awesome!)
Love (Lawd! Shake that thing come on!!! Bounce it baby!)
These are the Jams!!! I love everything on it. But those seven songs are the essential '3121' tracks for me! It was really a necessary release, highly commercial and marketable. The songs for me worked better than 'Musicology.' This was a stronger 'Pop' record which reached levels that all kinds were able to dig and enjoy. I appreciate this so much, it makes me feel good. ALL other songs here are really good songs!
Get On The Boat - LIVE at the Superbowl Press Conference is one of the best performances of that! I wish he really performed it on the guitar on the album! It's slamming! I love the Latina feel! He really had nice licks with this one!
Lolita - I use to HATE this song, and I still kind of cringe when I hear the beginning. BUT it has grown me. I love the 'Chicken Grease' guitar on it. It's a pretty overwhelming track.Sometimes good, and sometimes bad..like on American Idol..That was kind of embarrassing. LOL. He should have performed "TAC" instead. lol
Incense In Candles - YES! Baby OHHH!! The lyrics are very weird, but in a Prince way. It's like he was talking about having sex, but instead taking a ride in his car? Whatever..that meant..It's such a weird deal. I dig it though! I especially love the ending. Tamar and Prince really work so good together.
Satisfied - Eh...It took me a while to listen to it, I can, but it's only if it manages to come on. I won't search for it. I prefer 'On The Couch' which is like a brother to this song.
Black Sweat - YEAH!!!! Like a white lady! Haha
I end up reviewing all of the songs..JUST TO PROVE..why I appreciate 3121 and why I think it's pretty awesome! It's Button Therapy, Baby!

I still remember his appearance at the 2005 NAACP Image Awards, when he was honored with the Vanguard Award. Besides the smoking performance, everyone was talking about what he was wearing, with the numbers '3121' printed on his collar. It dumbfounded me too, as it was a promotion ploy for the upcoming album. Smart move, I may add!
When the first single "Te Amo Corazon" premiered, it surprised the hell out of me. Coming off the heels of the huge Musicology run, I did expect something hard hitting and I remember being alittle disappointed. But the video to that single made me appreciate more over the years. 3121, the album, still remains one of the highlights of his latter period. I can play that album from beginning to end, without any skips. Even though its replay value has diminished in my P playlist, it was/is a great album and era.
