Spin has always loved SOTT. Which U2 album was number one? Link?

Don't know why it says this was posted on Feb 15, but this list is actually a few years old.

...of the past 25 years.
#1 Album was U2's Achtung Baby. [Edited 3/13/12 9:38am]

Sure would be nice if there was a fresh new remaster for the new people to listen to!

I'd rather have the donut. Donuts are epic. Besides, why the fuck do I want a sheet of stickers? U2 sucks nuts. [Edited 3/13/12 16:54pm]

Or to put it another way...
As a U2 fan you can get:
Sold the same old material, at an astronomically sky-high price, because it's sprinkled with a bit of shiny glitter.
As a Prince fan you can get:
Original material, often comprising several discs, on an almost yearly basis since 1978.
It's the music that matters ... not the packaging. I'll take Prince, you can have U2.

It's really no comparison...Prince and U2....really?
U2 is the most overrated band since the Beatles.
Prince is vastly underrated by the public. Thanks for the laughs, arguments and overall enjoyment for the last umpteen years. It's time for me to retire from Prince.org and engage in the real world...lol. Above all, I appreciated the talent Prince. You were one of a kind.

Clearly you are missing the point. This discussion is about the treatment given and respect shown for two special albums by the actual artists and not which band is better. I just can't believe all the things people say !

I assume your joking about "Only Number 2." Regardless of whether you think U2 should have won, you gotta admit #2 is pretty high. And I don't think Spin necessarily loves all things purple.
Plus Achtung Baby is a great album. Not as good as Sign o the Times, imo, but definitely worthy of being in the top 10 of the past 25 years.

U2 is a hell of a band, and they don't even rock hard enough for me. But, I respect what they do and how they do it. No, I don't think they are as talented or creative as Prince, but they are a solid rock group. And SOTT ranked #2 is very cool indeed.

Uh, this discussion is about Prince's Sign O The Times being ranked 2nd best album of the last 25 years...
It's not about whether or not U2 is overrated. That thread is here ---> http://prince.org/msg/8/377560

Prince at #2 is really impressive and well deserved..
Achtung Baby is really the greatest album - from U2, not as great as SOTT of course, but it really deserves recognition, fantastic...
Why can't I buy Achtung Baby on vinyl these days (without buying a big box set...),
I would love to have Achtung Baby on 180 gram vinyls.. remastered.
And SOTT, remastered 180 gr vinyl is unavailable.. also,
Prince are you listening...?
Edit, Achtung Baby on vinyl...

As the OP my point is this...only No 2...No 1 would have to be another Prince record, certainly not those Potato Munchers, with the same sound since Boy way back in 81! Racist Spin!

How much is that whole package?
...and what the hell are you going to do with all that stuff after you have ripped the contents to your hard drive?!! Does anyone really have that much attic space anymore?
Prost!

Honestly, I really only need proper remasters, but I'd shell for all that extra crap... 'cause I'm crazy like that.

Spin is racist??? lol check yo'self there. Potato Munchers...really?
They sound nothing like their album "Boy" on "Joshua Tree", "Achtung Baby", "ZooRopa" or "All That You Can't Leave Behind". Those albums all sound uniquely different. You know, kind of like how Prince albums used to sound. And who up there said the Beatles were overrated? Omg, should take names and remember who's opinions to never listen to again, but I don't care all that much.

"Sign O The Times", definitely one of my favorites! I think Prince shoud package SOTT. The Black Album and LoveSexy together as a boxset. That way we could listen and if packaged with DVD's and emabark on visual journey of video and sound like no other since The Beatles Anthology. Maybe, do a Revolution reunion to spur sales and hit that nostalgia vibe? But knowing Prince, he would rather create new music instead of dwelling in the past. It's too bad that McCartney waited too long to tour and release music. He waited too long to accept what the people want. He just cannot sing like he used to, legend yes but I would not pay to see him.

So your intention was to U2 bash, rather than be happy that SOTT ranked so high (higher than it deserved, imo)?

I never understood them until I seen them live. What are you outraged about today? CNN has not told you yet?
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
So you rather have an album like 20ten than b-sides and re-workings of previously unheard material of the Sign of the times album in good audio???

Twenty10 kicks anything by U2 up the arse! At least it is original.

Wouldn't even place it among Prince's top 5 albums.
