It seems that I can't order it in the uk, but there is a paperback version by the same author Jason Draper called prince chaos, disorder and revolution. Is this much the same but cheaper cover ect... I ask because I have ordered a new hardback book called prince inside the music and the masks and I just wanted the nicest one to read. Does anyone have the new inside the music and masks book ? is it as nice as the life and times one? or where can i get life and times hard cover in uk. many thanks for any advice help in choosing what to get. peace

Chaos, Disorder & Revolution is a totally different book to that of Life & Times.
I ordered my copy of L&T through Barnes & Noble in the US, they shipped to the UK with no problems.
Life & Times is a nice big book with a ton of colour photographs but is quite thin on information, and will probably not contain anything that you do not already know. Nothing really exclusive in the photo department either, but it's nicely put together and has a cool velvety touch cover. Copies crop up on ebay from time to time.
C, D & R is another Prince bio, the usual info, nothing spectacular really, lots of mistakes and could have done with being proof read imo. My advice would be to go for Possessed instead, though C D & R does go up to 2010/11 if I remember correct.

You can get Life & Times on Ebay. It is a very nice coffee table book. I would get it over Chaos & Disorder. "Music gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination and life to everything." --Plato

CDR gets a bad rap, but I like that Draper gives Prince props for being a pioneer in several aspects that now ring prophetic, like digital releasing. And also that he follows Prince up to '10. Plus I like that he at least cited most of his information, so it's not just lazy copy and pasting and taking credit for his facts.
Alot of folks probably didn't like his heavy bashing of Prince's work broadly in the last decade plus. He really was too short and dismissive of Lotusflower as a whole from my memory. Plus he took the lyrics of "Act of God" too literally, arguing Prince is totally ignorant of world events. (Not that I would absolutely dismiss such a claim considering this is Prince after all) But none the less, I always understood the Saddam reference in the lyrics as broad criticism at American lawmakers to waste a fortune on the military-industrial complex's whims, but for the most part ignore the domestic agenda.

Thanks, yeah, i've seen it.
I have all the Prince books I need I think, the majority of them are fairly average, with a few exceptions.

I had two. I bought the one from the US from B&N, then I bought a second new copy from ebay for under £10 (UK). I thought I would keep it for a month then sell it, it only made £13, I think after my ebay fee my profit was quite small.
