I was thinking maybe we are so used to Prince's own vocals, so we kinda think it's weird to listen to somebody's else voice on Prince music?! But I honestly don't think she has the funk voice and I mean anybody even slightly funky mentored by Prince woulda been like a bomb by now. She's been under his wings, and she still hasn't got the funk vibe.

I'm very disappointed that Prince is trying to tell us this is the next funk thing. He's insulting loads and loads of people with this shit.

Maybe I have to get used to neo soul voice on funk music?! But this feels odd, specially seeing sombeody as Andy praising the funk she apparently has, but only can dream of. lol

Things aren't easy as that, and Prince oughta know this with music sales going down...fuck that shit!

Ah yes, and stick to the funk people Don't let us tell by the muthafacka what we think funk is supposed to be, HE oughta know this game!

[Edited 3/9/12 14:07pm]

lol and there are people who do neo soul so much better if anybody wants that. This is the same thing I was thinking! How did she go from hopping around in sneakers in her video, with artsy fartsy music to some fonk? Prince got his glam squad on her, laid some tracks, and now passing her off as fonk. lol

This is exactly what I'm saying. If u look to her original songs, this is what this woman wants to sing, the neo soul, u can tell that. Now, she is funky all of a sudden and it hurts me to see this, cause fucking up with a genre as big as funk is a hot mess.

Prince gotta know this, he's insulting anybody who came before him with this shit. It's an insult altogether, however I am convinced it's not those people who gonna buy this shit anyway.

Prince hopes to make profits of this, but as I said I'm not gonna support Andy not because she is very bad but rather it's not insult to the music genre that I love.

It's her attitude problem too, which I had mentioned months before, she's saying she's funky, when she just isn't. Sharing the same bed with Prince gives her the right to say she's funky? lol

Prince I will always miss and love U.

I give this song 9/10. It has a early 70s funk twist. Andy's voice may not be like Aretha style but it fits perfectly in this song

I just hated that she is with Prince. Prince is known to get bored with his protegees. I wished she would been a mentor of some of those other 70s and 80s funk artist they would do their part to get her notice and introduce especially among the younger audience and find a way to get funk music back in scene. I have been listening to a lot of 70s and 80s funk lately its shame this music is not getting modern day attention the recent attention it had was during the G-funk era in the 90s eek

They really shouldn't hype this up. executive produced my ass, this sounds like Prince's living room w/ HornHeads serving the appetizers. lol

With that said, it is much better than that SouljaBoy video that was posted. But that doesn't mean I am going to purchase this. neutral

Well, of course, Prince's composition of the music is better that anything Soulja Boy could ever do, but Soulja's guitar playing is identical to Allo's, even with a similar guitar itself. bored

So, what do you people think? Is he trying to open up a new niche market for that sorta thing with promoting Andy ? Like younger pseudo funketeers? Or do you think he's music has declined so drastically that he can't make the funk anymore, I'm beginning to doubts...if his own material are slightly better than Superconductor, this sounds like a piece of shit....there is no way I'm believing he thinks he can tell us Andy is the new funk diva. Lmao!

Get a grip! Prince likes his women young and crispy, he's old school like that, never in a million years he'd support a woman that doesn't look like a model even if she had the best voice that has ever existed on the earth. He's talking a lot about head, after all.

Prince I will always miss and love U.

I am so hard trying to like this woman's voice, but I just can't. I think she simply can't sing, she'd be good as his background singer, but she is nowhere good enough to have a promo as the next big thing, she is like Carmen Electra but even not good like Bria, Tamar or Rosie.

The music is all Prince's, and yet we have this woman's voice all over it, which is really confusing. The other thing which is extremely bothering me is that apparently she is funky? Funk where? Has she been doing funk prior to being in NPG? Hell no! Either you are funky or you are not, it's really simple. And now she is funky or what? lol

Prince ought to know better than this, and this is an insult to people who love funk. I can't believe he's degrading it so much.

I am inclined to think he's experimenting and using her to get the music out which he wouldn't even dare on his own album, so kinda like leftover shit music.

This woman's music is a disgrace to anybody who seriously loves funk.

agreed-she can't sing worth two shits! Just another flava of the month neutral I'm not sold-you gotta come better than this to get my money. Especially after I bought Extraloveable 2011 and was fucking disappointed neutral

This post made me laugh out loud. I am still on the fence with Andy, I like her and want to see Prince succeed with all of his projects/proteges, but i find I can only take her voice in doses. I did like People Pleaser (not the dancing/stage presence) and Nothing More. This industry ain't easy, so I wish her well and hope she has very thick skin, cuz I have no doubt, that this summer when her album drops, this site will be the place to be.

I am just 31 years old and I was too young to experience funk but however I do appreciate funk of 70s and 80s and people around my age and younger generation doesnt know too much funk music and this would be a perfect opportunity for the younger generation get expose to this music.

Prince need to start do better to reach out to the younger generation just like MJ did when he was alive. I don't blame Prince if her album does not go to the top (which I don't think it will, could be wrong tho). She knew what she was doing when she mentioned in one of her interviews that she would love to work with Prince and thanks to Prince she was introduced to the masses (depending on who you ask on the Org, this may have been a good or bad thing). So it should come as no suprise to her or any other future protege, that straight out of the gate, they will have to knock it out of the park in order to keep him interested. Studio time and touring the world ain't cheap and she got to do all this on Prince's dime!

She's nice to look at, but so is Amel Larriuex and Amel can actually sing. It would blow Allo's voice away. Esparanza Spaulding can actually play her instruments. I will give credit where credit is due. There are women with much better voices, & much better musicians around than this.

Yea...Bria had to have strung Prince along with that crap. Would he really have agreed to putting together an album for her if she had no intention of ever performing any of it? Seems unlikely.

Let's be honest here...these untalented women specially Andy and Carmen had/haave those opportunities cause they share the same bed with Prince. In exchange he's giving them an album. A fair deal, however these women are being used and manipulated. These women would do anything anytime to get an album. There might be someone more talented than Andy but maybe they don't wanna kiss Prince's head.

I know it all sounds odd, but it's really very obvious she's not funky, she may be good in any othe genre, but she is not fit for funk and NPG, having said that I said many times that the current NPG is the worst as it ever was, so at this point it can't even get worse with Andy being a member. lol

hey I'm in agreement

I do think Andy was doing something musically before Prince fell 4 her, so I'm going to give her that. the fact that she isn't better on the guitar but in the band bothers me, maybe it's time 2 end that NPG funk and prince try something more different piano Prince+2 guitarists, full percussion instruments and less drum, string instruments violins etc flutes bass I don't know maybe he needs to try something more drastic that could probably get him to play different music instead of catering to "the Old Soul tunes" all the time

You are right about the money! So I assume this andy project is not aimed directly 2 Prince fans as a target, it's a side project that I can skip, which i will anywAY. However, you realise that she's being promoted as all Prince, she is projecting Prince everywhere, she has nothing of her own, she can't even play the guitar, this is what all bothers me I think.

If she had some different style of her own, something different, it'd be all cool, but she's messing up with Prince fans, in other words with people who actually love funk!

I hope I make sense somehow.

Prince I will always miss and love U.
