Well if you came all that way to see Prince then you deserve to feel how you feel LOL. It was a "revolution Reunion" it was not nor was it advertised or stated that it was a "PRINCE and the REVOLUTION" reunion. A prince and the revolution reunion will never EVER HAPPEN. So get over it. Appreciate that time for what it was and His current efforts for what they are.
With that being said, I understand that one could dream, and it would have been amazing to witness that reunion. Peace and blessings, I feel your pain. I wish it would happen but, I'd expect a reunion with TONY M. before that LOL

I agree. Sheila and P on stage cannot be beat!
What night are you referring to? I've seen several shows in the last few years where she showed up but not for the whole night.

Based on how many threads there are discussing Prince not showing up, goes to bolster what many here have already stated - that his showing would have taken away from the Revolution and the cause. He was never slated to show, never stated he was going to show, but there are how many threads talking about him. Imagine if he did.
I think it was a good thing he didn't show, the night was what it was suppose to be, the Reunion of the Revolution Because of their half-baked mistakes, we get ice cream, no cake; all lies, no truth; is it fair to Kill the YOUTH ~~ Party Up

It doesn't matter that he wasn't billed, wasn't supposed to, he's moved on. blah blah blah.
I wasn't really expecting him until the hype the day before as I already stated.
The fact remains..... Not showing up at all was a pretty d*ckish thing to do. period.

Especially if he was in the building... watching. Folks can say all they want about the og cause but that ish is almost inexcusable imo.
How the hell you aint ognna get up on stage and give Wendya kiss on the cheek during Purple Rain lol. "Climb in my fur."

I was not there, but I think that it sucks that he wasn't there to perform with them. I think they knew in the back of their minds that he wouldn't come. But I think they were bit sad maybe about that.. even though they still rocked the house! (seen clips on youtube lol) I like Wendy on lead vocals, that was pretty cool. But still it's sucks. I'd love to see Prince & The Revolution together again for a tour or album... They are great.

Okay...but only if she does the face crumple...like she's about to cry. We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

z said it the mans schedule is hectic .. maybe he knows the band shines bright wout him.

From the reports Prince was there. Last minute, decided not to do it. Something about legalities. Whatever. And during the Interview that was televised some of the band was disappointed. I had a great time either way. But like some people said, it would've been nice if he would've said a few words. Of course I broke a rule by posting here because I'll probably get shit for writing an opinion. Oh well. MyeternalgrattitudetoPhil&Val.Herman said "We want sweaty truckers at the truck stop! We want cigar puffing men that look like they wanna beat the living daylights out of us" Val"sporking is spooning with benefits"

It's hardly a stupid question: it was tongue-in-cheek and hypothetical; and if you were remotely familiar with Soul Alive's writing style and his years of posting about music on this site (Prince-related or otherwise) you would know that.

okay people, imagine the crowd if folks in minneapolis had heard prince was in the house and possibly playing with the revolution. the fire marshall would have had to shut first avenue down due to overcrowding and then prince would have been the bad guy to all kinds of folks cause the concert would have been cut short...or they would have only let folks in to capacity and the folks not allowed in would have seen this as prince's fault for showing up. if prince is going to hook up with the revolution in a small venue then one night is not going to cut it. the only way it would work would be a residency and that just doesn't seem likely.

The event was sold out prior to the day of the show and nobody else was getting in by hook or crook without a ticket(scalped or otherwise). There was never a chance of them overselling it on the day of the show. VIP was a little tight at times but once we all moved down to the main floor it wasn't so jam packed that you couldn't dance to the music. When go 2 a Prince concert or related event it's all up in the house but when log onto this site and the miasma of bitchiness is completely overwhelming!

I understand what everyone is saying, Maybe it was just a pipe dream because 1)I've never seen Prince and the Revolution in concert and 2) I've never seen Prince in concert The las time I wanted to see him, something last minute came up, and the other time he was a NO SHOW, but it was more of the orginazers fault.
I just have bad Prince luck!
I was bitter to take it out on him, and be upset that he didnt show. That's what I get for trying to live out a dream.
As for P and the Revolution ever getting back together, I think they should, who cares if it's the past...History repeats itself. And judging by that AMAZING show them getting back ogether will be a force to be reckoned with!!!
I'll shock you with my lips.

My suggestion is that next time you spend your travel dollars going to see a Prince concert, rather than going to a concert of his past band members and hoping he shows up. Prince does not typically do this, so you will fare much better going to his official show. I agree that it would be nice to see him perform with The Revolution again, but this just may never happen. But, I can assure you that you will love seeing Prince live in concert with the NPG. Prince still on the best show on earth in my opinion.

I spent $1500 to go see his concert, he was a no show. I just hope he goes on tour again, So I can get a dose of his purple funk!!! I'll shock you with my lips.

i dare say it was hugely disappointing for band members and fans alike. The whole world is moving on!...come on Prince catch up...you seem to be the only one not having any fun, look at you all rapped up in your legality shit, lighten up before it's to late

Me too. Prince fans in Dallas just can't win. The Census Bureau estimates that there are 2,518 American Indians and Alaska Natives currently living in the city of Long Beach.

I havent read everyone elses response, but i think this is kinda cold. He did help out with getting this show together. He still loves his fellow musicans, but i think this chapter of this book has been over for a very very long time. Yes, he invites old band members to play with him from time to time, but thats probably as far as its gonna get. Say it's just a dream...

Oh come on now, when has he really ever given fans what they want on FANS terms???? NEVER NEVER NEVER! fans will do whatever it takes to see him when he decides he's gonna grace us with his presence.

Why are people bent ut of shape??? Hasn't the rest of the band members done things independent of Prince? Have they asked him to come on stage with them? As it was said he has the right to move on past Purple Rain. S0 should some of you. Prince's Sarah

I agree with U, but on a general and wide spread term, 1978-1986 was the closest 2 Prince giving Prince fans what they wanted. But we weren't needing too much because everywhere we turned we were getting Prince, Prince music Bside longversions, Proteges, award show performances, magazine pictures etc etc. It was a good peroid for Fandom
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
The fans don't even know what they want as a coolective unit. It's all over the spectrum. I had a conversation with my friends on this trip about if Prince did get together with the Revolution they'd play all the songs everyone has been asking him to retire from his setlist(Purple Rain, Kiss, Raspberry Beret, etc.) So the actual concept of a reunion still would wind up not giving the fans what they wanted fo years now. When go 2 a Prince concert or related event it's all up in the house but when log onto this site and the miasma of bitchiness is completely overwhelming!

I don't think there could ever be a 'collective unit' as far as the fans are concerned. We don't know each other.
I think if he got with the Revolution that they would be able to get him to do stuff outside the hits. And put a different spin on certain of the hits.
I could also see them getting him to do new arrangements on some of the post 1980's work they didn't work on.
the 2006 Brit Award show I think was a very cool rendition of all 4 songs and it started with Lisa & Wendy jamming at Prince's house and they brought up the idea and then called up Sheila and then they jammed together
