Love the hell out of this song! It's in my top five fav Prince songs ever! One of his greatest works imo. Has he played it lately? [Edited 12/23/11 20:39pm]

The hit single from Controversy that never was. Still dont understand why and why he never plays it live. The album's strongest song along with Do Me baby

Why hasn't an appreciation started sooner? LOVE is the word to describe my feelings for this piece. Yes, at 19, I finally saw the Revolution, a legendary band. And I talked to Wendy!!! In addition to seeing Prince, I have now lived life. Thank you Purple People!!

My 4th favorite song off of my 2nd favorite Prince album, so it's very very very high up on my favorte Prince song list. Such a sweet song, something Prince wouldn't really do again until Raspberry Beret. Chorus= one of the best hooks ever!

"Controversy," the album, as a whole is very strong. It's in my top 5 favorite Prince albums.
But it has three AMAZING gems on it.
Controversy, Do Me Baby, and Private Joy. So yes, I will tip my hat to Private Joy. It's a funky little tune on an even funkier little album. "I never want to stop singing this song!" Prince in Montreal, 12/2/11, just before performing Purple Rain

I've always loved "Private Joy" and regard it as one of his finest songs. I've read that it was the very first song he used the Linn LM-1 on but if somebody on here could confirm that, I'd appreciate any confirmation. Another interesting connection to this song, is the uncanny similarity between this song and "Kelly's Eyes" by Andre Cymone. One was definitely influenced by the other. If he would play these kinds of songs, with Dr. Fink and the Linn LM-1, I would pay 1000.00 per ticket to experience this type of jam.No problem, no problem. All day every damn day. Please throw us some underdog bones in 2012 on the live tip. Flip the script!

But other than that. I LOVE Private Joy. such a sweet little song that I simply can't sit still 2.

I am a grown-ass woman - and that line still makes me blush every time. We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

I'm sick and tired of making plans without making up my mind, teacher teacher can't u see I just need a little time.
