Hypothetically if Prince were to perform the Superbowl Halftime Show again

What songs (realistically) would you like him to sing?

I would love for him to perform now because I like the band now way more than the band in 06. Blackwell, Ida, Maceo etc...... taking away the songs he performed last time what would u like to see?

i'd want to see sheila involved. and morris day and the time

my medley:

1999 (I know the intro was done last time but that doesnt count)

little red corvette (with the 'slow down' breakdown)

jungle love (morris on vocals)

glamorous life (sheila singing with prince on drums)

when doves cry (just the intro until it gets to kiss and goes into kiss)

Kiss (with kiss dance at the end)

Nothing Compares to you (duet with beyonce or some famous female singer w/ Maceo....sorry shelby)

would actually like adore to be the closer but i think NC2U appeals to more people....your lists?

I totally agree. Prince has already cemented even more his prowess as a live performer. If he performed next year it would look like he's trying to top Madonna when really she was trying to top Prince. Secondly, even the band from 2007 with Cora Dunham and Josh Dunham was below sub-par ,the magic in Prince's halftime show was him performing in Miami, FL in pouring rain, with the danger of getting electrocuted by water coming into contact with his guitar, amps, and cables, falling down, bad sound engineering and STILL perservering to deliver a memorable halftime show.

Also, after Madonna used Nicki Minaj and MIA as a clutch during her halftime show and relying on pre-recorded music for most of the performance about booking bands that can play live. I loved Bruce Springsteen's performance from 2010. Not a lot of bells and whistles but he provided great soulful rock tunes, the E Street Band and Clarence showing out with Bruce with great interaction. Plus Bruce provided good natured humor. My suggestions for next year:

Sting or The Police

Red Hot Chilli Peppers

KISS

Genesis

Foo Fighters

We all know after MIA flipped the bird the NFL is going to curl up into a ball and book non-Black and non-hip-hop artists.

Yeah, then he would be competing against himself. There's no way he can command the rain to fall like that again, and people would say he therefore fell short of his 2007 performance. He had the added element of surprise in that most people were not expecting him to blow them away with his performance, they just didn't what he is capable of doing live. I want to see him play at Obama's second presidential election party!

Not usually on their own, no. Justin timberlake (once w/ N Sync) and I think Gloria Estefan have appeared more than once.

The original poster did say ''Hypothetically'', no need to reply saying that Prince wont do it again, we know he probably wont...

My List would be:

1999

Peach/Guitar/I could never take the place of your man/Spanish Castle Magic Medley

Shh

Future Soul Song (to keep things modern(ish))

Gold

Been there, blew everyone away and it should end with that. The only event that's left and look foward to seeing Prince perform is the Kennedy Center Honors.

Something like that should be a one-off situation the way While My Guitar Gently Weeps was a one time thing.

Madonna was stressing out about putting a 13 minute show together, but I just thought she should be talking to the Cirque and using her songs plus some new ones for a show.

Same with Prince - would love to see something he and Cirque collaborate on with some familiar songs and some new stuff written for the show. Would prob. be able to buy his music at the shows.

Personally, with all this excitement for the game, I'd like to see him perform some up-beat funky songs. But really, anything but covers wink

Yes, that'd be fantastic! I do believe he'll get this one day.

But usually other artists perform as a tribute to the honoree. I wonder who would/could perform his songs - they are so particular to him. Funny to think of him getting this when early in his career he was pissing off senators' wives, and then wiggling around in assless pants! lol
