I just started a thread about this too! I think Prince has worked the jazz/fusion thing for awhile, but will change styles soon. I imagine his music will remain outside of the mainstream.

I really, really, really want him to do a psychedelic, rock, blues album. Maybe in the vein of Led Zeppelin and with his own style. I wanna hear the blue angel wail!

Maybe he will be impressing us with some of his improvisational skills.

I would never want to make that choice for him. I strongly believe in his individuality and identity. The first time I listened to The Rainbow Children, it saddened me. I thought he had lost something. Upon listening a second time, I paid attention to the music and the vocals. I filtered out the JW beliefs that bothered me and I had a wonderful experience. So, whatever musical direction he chooses to take, I hope he achieves his highest potential.

I think that he is and has always done a great job with his music. Something tells me that he will suprise us with something that will knock our socks off. But that just may be me. Dreaming permits each and every one of us to be quietly and safely insane every night of our lives.

Let him continue to write and record from where his head and heart are at at the moment. Do the music he wants, but surprise us and keep us on edge.
