July you stated that you remember "Purple Rain" being very long... that was an understatement. The intro to the song was longer than the song itself. We were singing the ending "oo oo oo oo" before Prince sang one word. At least that is the way it was in New York in January of 1985.

Man I saw both those shows too! That was a good time for concerts.

It was Jan. 85 though. 1/10/85 through 1/16/85. Remember the movie didn't even come out till mid-84.

Hey Everlasting Now -

Now that you mention it, I do seem to recall him coming back to Danver for the Lovesexy tour. That's two shows I wish I could have seen. Ah, if only I would have been a little older. You wouldn't happen to have the setlist to the Lovesexy show too, would you? Maybe I could close my eyes and just imagine what a great show that was too.

As for the Jam of The Year aftershow at The Church...I didn't go to that either. I drove from Fort Collins to Chicago to see Prince a few months earlier at the United Center, and there were rumours he was playing an aftershow at some club and so my buddy and I went and the doorman thought we were totally high. So when I heard about The Church aftershow, I thought it was simply another rumour. I presume you went to that too? Maybe I should bump that number up to 3 shows I wish I could (would) have seen!

I did. July 3, 1986, McNichol's Arena. I'm sure you were at that show too, right? My first Prince concert, and only Revolution experience!

I wish I could remember it more specifically. It's a pretty hazy memory now.

Yes, I was how did you know! wink

Wow, for me it was Purple Rain Tour in Los Angeles 1984 or 1985. I don't remeber now, my mememory is hazy. What I do remeber was that I had nosebleed seats but it was totally worth it. I think Elizabeth Taylor was in the front row and Prince threw her a purple rose. Later on there was something in the news about Prince paying her a visit to her house and apparently disrecpeted her in some fashion.Lots of women in peak-a boo lace outfits too. I remember the pop up clown from "Purple Rain" was available for a souvenir. Probably his best show in my opinion until Lovesexy in 1988...

Wow -

Everlasting Now and Madartista -- I also grew up in Denver, but being only 13 at the time of that '86 show, I probably didn't even realize he was performing back then. I am incredibly envious that you two were able to see such an amazing show, especially during my favorite era (Parade).

I never cared much for McNichols, but who the hell cares if you're watching Prince and Joni perform Purple Rain!! Do you two know of other Prince shows from Denver? I think there was a long hiatus until the Jam of the Year in (what was it...1998 at Fiddler's Green?) I was so excited he was finally coming back, I remember calling and calling lousy Ticketmaster even before the lines opened, but I scored second row in the Purple Circle or whatever he called it...woohoo! I presume you two went to that one, too?

I was in the 5th room for that JOTY show. Still the best seats I've ever had -- even thru NPGMC. The aftershow at the church was my first Prince aftershow.

I was living in L.A. the last time he came to Denver -- April 2001, but I came in for the show anyway.
