MJ fans mad.
And Prince made the top 5 in the 90's which is cool too.

So this is just about chart success?
Michael Jackson isn't #1 because he only released 2 albums that decade, and this thread will soon be because everyone talks about him instead of Prince.

Well done Prince, these facts only back up exactly what I knew anyway.
For those complaining about MJ not bringing as many albums out as P, well who's fault is that? He just wasn't talented enough to churn out records the way prince was/is.

Interesting list, I dispute some of the choices though, Glenn Miller only really had hits until 1944 when Sinatra pretty much was non stop through the decade. Jolson actually had more success with his late 40s come back than in the 20s. And where is Jimmy Rogers and Hank Williams. I love the fact that Madonna is the only name that survives three decades. Elvis, the Beatles, Prince, The Stones and Sinatra all get only 2. Thats the brilliance of our Madge.
I agree with Prince at One in the 80s. Okay MJ had a lot more sales and hits than Prince did in the 80s, but Princes accessible rock and pop mixed in with raw soul and R and B was trememdously influential, more so than MJ's dynamite dancing and catching singles. Did Jackson influence the number of acts Prince did, even Jamet Jackson's "Control" album had a the 4 minute dance floor aesethic of Prince's ion the mix. Also Prince spawned producers Jam and Lewis and even Andre Cymone. To make it even more astounding was the fact Prince was black. MJ was a singer and dancer, Prince was an artist, musician, producer, composer, performer, singer, dancer, multi instrumentalist. Kind of self explanatory Got some kind of love for you, and I don't even know your name

I'm guessing this is a UK chart list. Robbie Williams at #2 for the 2000's? Really?

It`s trash list No Pink Floyd, no Stevie, no LED ZEPPELIN... Robbie, really???? They are sick?? This list takes into account the number of hit songs in the UK ... Nothing more, nothing less. TOP Music Artists based equally on Musical and Commercial Impact, Influence & Importance of their Recorded Work

I understand your point, but its still an opinion like all the other surveys. Your 50s set ignores all the music before 1955 and only deals with rock and roll artists more known from 1956 to 1959. If you see the bigger sellers of the 50s were Frankie Laine (His hit I believe was number for 17 weeks in both the uk and us in 1953), Rosemary Clooney, Perry Como, Bing Crosby and the Andrews sisters(Until 1954) and of course Frank Sinatra whose 1955 and 1956 albums were massive sellers (Songs for swinging lovers). Okay this is middle aged folks music but it was still successful. A lot of these artists (Kay Starr, Stafford, Clooney and Laine) refused to do rock and roll and thats why their careers headed south (Sinatra did okay - but not doing rock and roll). And even Perry Como had hits into the 70s. I would also put Johnny Ray on that list as she had hits from 1952 (Cry) to 1957 (Yes tonight Josephine - which sounded rock and roll).
Your 60s, 70s and 80s lists are reasonable though, 2000s I disagree with, but its a shame that eminem was the best Got some kind of love for you, and I don't even know your name

This list is from The World's Music Charts. It's not an opinion based list, or a U.K list. The U.K. is included, as is the U.S., Canada, Finland, Germany, and many other countries. It combines 183 different data sources to calculate those artists with the most chart success globally over the last 111 years. That's why Prince is the #5 artist for the 90's decade because he had hits somewhere in the world almost every year of that decade (who knew endorphin machine was a hit in Japan?!).

Such a lie. Thriller alone has sold more than Prince's entire discography. I'm hating on Prince, I'm just stating facts.

imo Prince deserves to be.... the most successful artist in the 1980s in terms of ART:
Maybe Michael Jackson has sold more.. about 200 million, and Prince about half.. 100 million copies / in their careers. ***
still Prince was releasing 9 (9!) brilliant albums in the decade the 80s..., 2 of them were double albums. That's brilliant...
Michael Jackson was releasing only 2 albums, brilliant albums yes.. but 2 only.
Sales isn't everything, art - and the amount of songs / albums is more important....

HOWEVER - it IS very surprising.....
their order for the 1980s: 2. Madonna 3. U2 4. Michael Jackson 5. Queen
- I would switch the positions of Madonna and Michael Jackson.
I am not a big fan of Madonna, she's overrated like HELL. (imo)...
