It's worth the viewing and I still say it's the best out of all his movies.

On a side note to the OP - if you ever wanna buy it, it's not all that hard to find, I was able to walk into a random store here (think Target, Wal-Mart) and just buy it right off the rack.

Yeah, well you're also a Prince fan posting on a Prince based website.

edit: and there's no way it's the best out of all his movies..it is not better than Purple Rain. Even if he Achtung Baby-ed himself.

One day, UTCM is streaming on Netflix. The next day, one million Netflix subscribers will sign up at the org to debate for 30 years if its good or not. Danger to society!

What are you outraged about today? CNN has not told you yet?

Well, of course. I'm a Prince fan, so I joined a Prince forum.

It'd be kind of stupid-as-fuck and ass-backwards to join a fan-forum for an artist I can't stand. biggrin

Having said that, no I don't think every last thing he did was awesome; there's some stuff I don't like. And yes, to me personally "Under the Cherry Moon" is the best Prince movie and I'm entitled to my opinion. Sure, "Purple Rain" had great performances and everything but really that's what saves the movie, I really think that if you put all those aside, "Under the Cherry Moon" is just the better film, period.

lol, "Mayhab..mayhab"-Mother Abigail/The Stand

But I think its best to have only Purple Rain as the representation of the mans celluloid work.

It is definitely worth buying the DVD since you also get the videos and commnetary. cool

Wrong.

And regarding you being aPrince fan etc etc of course you are going to enjoy UTCM for what it is. But since 99% of the netflix public are probably not fans, UTCM would be laughed at and dogged (not that there are not laughable moments in Rain either, but still...). That was my point.

Purple Rain is the best celluloid representation for the non-Prince fan.

You can say you enjoy it the most, but it is not the best movie out of all of his. The plot is cliche..acting is terrible..the ambiguoustimeframe...the movie is just bad...it has its redeeming qualities..but objectively speaking, not his best

Subjective.

You think it sucks ass, fine. I think it's great and you really can't tell me what to like so it's your prob, not mine.

You really have a bug up your ass about this shit, don't you? What, are you over here trying to recruit fans into your Anti-Prince brigade?

You're wasting your fucking time. I think it's a good movie period. I don't care what the 'other people on Netflix' would have to say about it. I like it. Moreso than "Purple Rain".

Did Prince fuck your girl or something, damn.

*pats you on the shoulder* Maybe if you didn't need Viagra to get it up and could last longer than five minutes, you wouldn't have that problem.

No need to take it out on Mr Prince.

On the heels of Purple Rain, I kind of accepted UTCM as a kid. I tried watching on Netflix a couple weeks ago and could not get past the first 10 minutes. And this is coming from someone who watches TCM on a regular basis, and has Prince's entire catalog/career essentialy commited to memory. The movie is bad.

Just to clarify, there's no commentary track on UTCM. Or GB, for that matter. Only PR has one.
