I'm perpetually facinated by the abandoned "Second Coming" film and soundtrack album from 1982; a great post on it is here: http://prince.org/msg/7/212359. I never knew until reading this was that it may have been Warners, not Prince, that pulled the plug; I also didn't know that this preceeded the Vanity 6 album and that all three girls are in the film.

Questions... How close completion were the album and movie? Is the video called the Second Coming acually related to the official project?

According to The Vault book the project was abandoned due to a row between Prince and director Chuck Statler.

The bits and pieces of it played at Paisley Park were awesome. Just another great DVD we want, but will never get.

Was any of the non-concert footage played? That room full of dolls scene looks creepy and similar to several sets in "Purple Rain"

No, it was just the concert footage, but the audio was much better than what is on the bootleg market. It is so painful to know all the pro-shot with great audio stuff we are missing. I wish he would do like U2, and release stuff from most tours...well, at least the old ones.
