I Love that song. That and One Night Alone.. the piano is excellent.

Calhoun, you are absolutely OKAY in being obsessed with that song. I've played it to death as well.
The "Lassoed the moon" part gets me every time!

"One Night Alone" is definitely nice work. You feel like it's very personal stuff - the kind of stuff that you would expect to find stashed away in the vault somewhere with no intentions of ever releasing to the public.

Someone mentioned that the piano work is nice, and I agree, but the one thing to keep mind is that the One Night Alone tracks are just "demo" tracks which means the piano playing will probably be even tighter on the final cut. I just hope Prince doesn't sacrifice the raw emotion that comes through in the demo takes by polishing things up too much. But on the bright side, by comparison, "A Case of U" seems to be a final take where everything is perfect, but the emotion of the song remains true. Hopefully Prince can pull the same thing off with the other tracks on the album.

Banished Brian, I vaguely recall an e-mail being sent out from NPGMC which said the One Night Alone tracks were demos that were recorded when TRC was being mastered. I believe it was posted on the org somewhere around the time the tracks were made available.

When I listen to the ONA tracks, as beautiful as they sound, some of the piano licks are a bit choppy and it sounds like he was just playing the sounds that he was inpsired to play as it popped into his head and to me some of it sounds like he just wants to hurry up and get it recorded so he doesn't forget it. That's just my impression, but when I heard they were demos, some of the "roughness" of the sound that I was hearing made sense.

But I agree with you in hoping that if they are in fact demo tracks, I hope he doesn't polish things up too much simply because the raw emotion of what he was feeling at the time is captured perfectly - and it's beautiful.
