He seems to emphasize "his religion" or religious views publically/lyrically in contrast to the detailed facts of his sexuality, but I agree it is none of our business in the end or long run. We can comment on it because we too have religious opinions, but still, he makes his own choices.

Prince clearly stated in 1984 'I'm NOT a woman, I'm NOT a man', I'm simply what you'll NEVER understand'.
This little phrase always guided Prince's life. Prince is one of the more open minded american artist… especialy regarding 'Sexuality'

If you look at the Mazzarati's 1985 project, it's absolutly CAMP! Mazzarati deliberaltly is a transvestite/cross-gender project, as well as Camille and the whole New Power Generation project ('Shoo bee doo'…).
What is 'Do me baby' talkin' about? Who wants to be done? Prince never denied his sexual fantasies ('Vibrator', 'M. Happy' - ie: M. Gay', 'Some of me' - I know what U want…' 'Boys AND girls' or that other lyric 'if You love a boy or a girl'… Moreover, Prince claimed to be a big fan of the rather 'camps' Valentino and Little Richard (many references).
SO to me, Prince is AS gay AS ANY heterosexual human, that means he is bi and he is honest enough to 'Stop Messin About'!

He observes a very 'straight' attitude in opposite of Georges Michael, BUT his life 'Vision' belongs to the FUTUR: he fights against Xenophobia, homophobia, ultra-capitalism and medias manipulations.
Prince is rather 'normal' in his public behaviour (the oposite of MJ) but his idea of life is kinda FREAKY. And his freaky concept of life is in perfect adequation with the society's evolutions. Prince and his 'Family' is the NEW BREED', he ALWAYS promoted this point.

This topic comes up so often on this board, and it's always amusing to me to see how many people get freaked out. Then there are those who say "It doesn't matter," which seems way too PC--Prince made sexuality and spirituality the key themes of his music when he started, and he still does today. It's one of the reasons I admire him so much, even when I don't agree with his views. It takes a lot of balls to go on national television and sing a song whose chorus states, "Accurate knowledge of Christ and the father will bring the everlasting now." It takes balls to go on the MTV Music Awards and wear pants that are see-through in the back. And it takes a lot of balls (or maybe just someone who's a true artist) to let your sexuality be such a major part of your work.

Prince made people start asking this question way back in 1979 when he sang, "I wanna be your mother and your sister too" and then he addressed it without answering it in "Controversy." Prince has never been extremely masculine, no matter how many beautiful women he's surrounded himself with, and he's never tried to be. He was the one who proclaimed he was man enough to say he's 50-50 girl.

I also just want to say that Prince has definitely used homoeroticism in his work. Song titles like "Head" and "Jack U Off" were used to mess with people's heads back in the day (the lyrics are clearly about women, but you know when a guy sings about jacking somebody off, a lot of people can think it means gay sex. Prince knew that too.) And his choreography during Diamonds and Pearls was definitely homoerotic, at least on the Arsenio Hall show--at one point, the dancers were simulating anal sex, with Prince on the receiving end. And what about at the American Music Awards show during "Billy Jack Bitch," when Prince dropped to his knees in front of Tommy Barbarella?

Sorry for the long post. I just think it's sad that sexuality is such a major component of this brilliant artist's work but the topic still doesn't really get discussed openly. Peace and be wild.
