I haven't seen this discussed yet, but why was Prince making all those silly chewing facial expressions during his 91 performance on Arsenio? Like he was eating fake food, then he starts yelling something out but you cant hear what he's saying.

At the end of Cream, Prince pretends to eat his guitar pick. Then he offers the crowd some. Then he opens his hand (and you can still see the pick between his fingers) and says "what?" as if to say there isn't anything here! I always thought that part was cute.

My memory might be failing me but wasn't he actually chewing a piece of gum during Cream, so he was actually chewing food. If you can call gum food. BTW Prince looked hot with his figure hugging black top and trousers and the he/she symbol round his neck. Oh yeah and the black tea towel on his head.

To this particular observer whenever he gets an attack of facial seizures onstage he just looks very, very silly indeed.

Worst of all all those facial contorsions detract from his musicianship a hell of a great deal. It totally marred 'Lovesexy Live' for me.

His strange facial expressions anywhere are very interesting and I'd much rather see all manner of strange expressions which are free flowing, than a pinched in person, or him when he is posing. Natural or naturally weird and expressive, oh yeah, baby...

If it was gum, Wrigley's Doublemint is the kind you can really pop with an attitude!

Oh, yeah I know Prince is just so gorgeous and his facial expressions are so wild because it's him, it's natural not posed or rehearsed (well, I don't know about rehearesed), but real that what makes them/him gorgeous.

First of all, let me say that I can't read lips. I wish I could, but I can't. But, I do remember the part you're talking about, and it always looked like he was saying, "Swallow?!? Swallow?!?" I'm probably COMPLETELY wrong, but it made sense to me, given the song was Cream as adorable2 already pointed out...
