Dream Parade album

Since we now have the 1985 configuration of Parade, and the album the way it could have been, I have been playing around with my dream selection of tracks for the album. This is according to my taste the perfect Parade album, although I love the released vesion as well as the newly released version. I have taken the liberty to choose songs from both configurations, in addition to a couple tracks written before that in my opinion would fit perfectly. I also would`ve wanted Joy In Repetition to be on it, but to my disappointment it seemed like it was written a few months after the album`s release.

So what do you think about this version?

Parade:

1. Wendy`s parade

2. New position

3. I wonder U

4. We can funk (original version)

5. Question of U

6. Kiss

7. Mountains

8. Anotherloverholenyohead

9. Old friends 4 sale

10. All my dreams

11. Sometimes it snows in April

I'm pretty content with the album as it is, but there is one song I dislike: Anotherloverholenyohead boxed . I would replace it with "Old Friends 4 Sale". Though I heard that it was going to be on the album after "Sometimes It Snows In April", I'd put it before. Also, I'm not sure when this song was recorded, but I think "Sexual Suicide" would fit nicely between "Girls and Boys" and "Life Can Be So Nice".

Ideally, "Parade" would've been a double album, also including "Love Or $", "All My Dreams", "Others Here With Us" and extended versions of "Kiss", "Mountains" and "Anotherlover...".

But, if I had to assemble an ideal single disc version that could've fit on a single vinyl record, I'd use:

  1. Christopher Tracy's Parade
  2. New Position
  3. I Wonder U
  4. Under The Cherry Moon
  5. Girls and Boys
  6. Sexual Suicide
  7. Life Can Be So Nice
  8. Venus De Milo
  9. Mountains
  10. Do U Lie?
  11. Kiss (Single Version)
  12. Old Friends 4 Sale
  13. Sometimes It Snows In April

If "Venus De Milo" was put on the B-Side, both sides would run around 22 minutes, and would fit on a single vinyl record. Parade would then be flawless imo. If it were a double album using the other songs I mentioned, it would probably be my favorite album.

Thank goodness for quality bootlegs then.

I have mentioned this release a couple of times in the past, but I don't mind mentioning it again, because it's still great. It does not include all the tracks on your wishlist, but it does contain extended versions of Parade tracks and a couple of unreleased trinkets. You could put most of this collection together yourself, but for the age of this release it is still an impressive and high quality package for those who feel lazy and like things done for them.

I'm good with what we got, but I still really pine for a pristine version of An Honest Man.

The picutre says "Music From The Motion Picture Under The Cherry Moon" - is that the name of the bootleg? I have all of these songs, except "Mia Bocca", which I've never even heard of before.

^ yes, that's the name of the bootleg.

The version of Mia Bocca on this boot is a short instrumental. It is originally a track on the Jill Jones album.

I think I'm probably confused, but isn't the version on Crystal Ball pristine or are you speaking of another version?

Mia Bocca was given to Jill Jones for her Paisley Park CD. It's played during the party scene in UTCM when Mary sees Christopher and Tricky. Track it down if you can, it's a good track and CD.

When eye go 2 a Prince concert or related event it's all heart up in the house but when eye log onto this site and the miasma of bitchiness is completely overwhelming!

There are two versions, acapella and a full instrumental version.

^This is an excellent collection, awesome sound quality. My only quibble is the segue between Do U Lie and Alexa De Paris. It sounds like they cut off Do U Lie prematurely.
