I used to have High Hopes.......

I have been a Prince fan since I was Around ten years old...Since I want to be your lover. Over the years I like many of his fans had dreams of meeting him in person. I did manage to go to 1 concert of his which was very nice. now that I am much older I am still a Prince fan, but I dont think I would want to meet him anymore. I dont know the man personally but from what I see I would never be the kind of person Prince would like to have some conversation with. he seems to only surround himself with the "beatuiful people" as far as females go.

I'm 43 (strike one), I'm average looking(strike two)and I dont have a lick of talent (strike three I'm out) sad

anyway. I still admire him and hope to find someone with some of his good qualities to be friends with and we can enjoy his music together and talk about it among other things.

I had high hopes of meeting Prince and perhaps being a friend (not lover or anything) but who of us didnt have that hope at one time.

I just wanted to share this frame of mine with my org ppl. sometimes I get lonley and need to vent. but I'm sure I'm not alone. I can dream new dreams and mabey some of them will come true.....realistic dreams!!!

Everybody have a great day or night and keep your hopes and dreams alive. Happy belated new year to all who read this, and I hope you all have great things to look forward to and inspire you!!! wink

Happy belated new year!! I'm with ya, I think it would be cool 2 meet the purple one too. I would love 2 just spend a day with him and see what inspires him to make such great music. Why do you assume he wouldn't make conversation with you? Only beautiful people? Oh peeshaw! If that is true, P sounds very stuck up. I'm sure you are a wonderful and interesting person 2 be around. hug Have a great night yourself!

Does he seem like he'd make a good friend from the interviews, or history that's public?

I promise you, despite the image, Prince is surrounded by everyday people who cater to his every whim. He's not employing models to do his laundry, you know? He can't control everything, and I'm sure those who have visited Paisley Park would confirm people of all stripes were running around. Just look at the NPG.... not exactly the best looking band. His back up singers aren't ugly, but they're not beautiful in traditional ways. Anyway, i don't think Prince has many friends that aren't connected directly to the business side of being Prince in some way. He might have church friends though.

I think he has friends who are not 'beautifull' (whatever that really is!) I would like 2 enjoy his music with u & talk 2 u about it but we live soo far away from each otha ! My friends eye's glaze over if I talk about prince/mpls sound 4 more than 5 mins smile I suppose I kept the whole thing pretty much 2 myself from a young age after getting tired of the bad/ignorant reactions from most peep when they found out I was a big 'fan'/collector - that's not 2 say I hid it because I never felt the need 2 do that , but in a way I kinda liked having this whole otha private world 2 go 2 when things got hard/sad/dull etc. After 26 years I suppose i'm used 2 it being a mainly private expierience but it would be nice 2 b friends x. I get lonely 2 sometimes , I think alot of peep do what with the way we live now , keep your chin up , keep on dreaming xxx hug

I agree with you about high hopes...but i have had high hopes for something different. I have had hopes that he might have another pop hit again--something to renew the magic for this current generation to actually groove to his music again....not just a rehash of the hits. Outside of Musicology and 3121 which i thought were both good albums his overall output of melodic songs has been just awful outside of a good song here and there. I think we also know that after a certain age you just are not going to be heard on pop or top 40 radio anymore but i always envisioned Prince as that one artist that could stay relevant. I used to wait in anticipation for whenever a new CD was coming out but not anymore. In fact after hearing the tracks on Planet Earth, Lotusflow3r, and 20Ten for the first time since the early 1978 i did not buy his material. I have been a fan since the beginning "For You" and "Soft and Wet." I played that song at a party late last year and people old and young were jamming to it. The young folk wanted to know who was the artist and could not believe it was Prince. If you think about it, anyone born mid 90's on would have never heard of a new hit song from Prince on Top 40 radio. Oh they may have heard a few songs on Urban radio but otherwise for them it is Prince "who"....oh that guy that Beyonce sang with on the Grammys and did Purple Reign. (that's about all they know) His new music seems stale, old, sounds the same, in need of editing, fresh ideas...something. I know some will say i am living in the past or he has changed and doesnt need hits anymore etc etc..... but i am just responding to the premise of your post....i used to high hopes..... for something GREAT but i am not hopeful anymore. I will always be fan, saw him when he came through Greensboro, NC and he was great as usual live. Be well..... and i am sure Prince would be lucky if he could ever meet YOU!!!!

i feel like i dont want to meet prince, i have a feeling he'd spend the whole time complaining about pirating and trying to preach the word of jesus with me. i love pirating and not going to church so i dont think thats going to work

Yes he is talented, but what other "good qualities " are you talking about?

Good friend? Him? I think he is waaaay too much in love with himself, something what makes Prince -Prince.

Also, if ther Kevin Smith stories are even half accurate, you might think you're having a conversation with Prince, only to realize later he was having an entirely different conversation in his own head.
