I'm beginning to understand the mentality of COMPLETISTS .
I never understood why people felt they had to have every single show the man's ever performed... until now What little known live gem makes you I never met you, but I LOVE you & I will forever!! Thank you for being YOU - my little Princey, the best to EVER do it

It's not little known, but I LOVE:
Rave Unto the Joy Fantastic, off Small Club. The solos are some of his best work ever...forget Joy in Repetition on Ain't it Over Yet? and the way he keeps crying, "no more!!!" cause the crowd keeps asking for more and he's so knackered. classic Prince!

The way he sings is kinda funny and the music is kickin'! ![]() Proud member of Prince's cult for 20 years! ![]()

There's lots of other stuff that I would love to have in my collection. But once you realize the sheer volume of stuff that is available on the Black market, you quickly realize that it's just not worth the money or time to collect EVERYTHING. Best to keep a few bootleg tracks or cds on your "to do" list. And then when the opportunity comes along you're ready. Because there are a few very, very good boots out there, but I would guess that 90 percent of what is availble is just pure garbage in terms of overall sound quality or lack of "special" or unique performances by Prince. I usually only buy specific boots based on the personal recommendation of someone I trust or if I've heard the boot myself. Other than that, even if the boot is available I won't buy it. "You've got to believe in something... why not believe in me?"

The "Question Of U" instrumental on the Jewel Box boot and "Dopamine Rush Suite" put me in a trance.

But this is the part that gets me! I admit, I don't pay a lot of attention to what boots are must haves, etc., I only hear people praise the 82-86 stuff, live Lovesexy shows, Small Club & now Nighttown & Bataclan. I've NEVER heard anyone mention this Osama track until Sept.11 happened. Maybe it's just me but that track kicks my ass & the thought of never knowing about it freaks me out!! I never met you, but I LOVE you & I will forever!! Thank you for being YOU - my little Princey, the best to EVER do it

I know what you mean. Every now and then a rare gem like Osama slips under the radar. The reason is because every now and then, Prince will do a "one-off" performance of a song that he's NEVER done before (whether a cover or an original) and the poof! it's gone from the setlist and you never hear it again. The Osama track is special because if you know anything about Washington D.C. and a funky style of music called "go-go" that was popular in the mid to late 80's then you know that Prince has NEVER performed that exact style of music. Even though it's just another form of "funk", it's still different and unheard of by Princely standards and it comes off extremely well in a live environment. Makes me wonder why he never added such a sound to his aftershows before then. "You've got to believe in something... why not believe in me?"

YES, YES!! Do you happen to know if it's Prince singing that high note or if it's a drop of some kind? I can't tell, but it definitely sounds like someone singing... I never met you, but I LOVE you & I will forever!! Thank you for being YOU - my little Princey, the best to EVER do it

I'm not sure which high note you're referring to. But the only high notes that are being sung that I can think of are the high notes being sung by his then backup singer Marva King. Not sure if you mean something else though. "You've got to believe in something... why not believe in me?"

That's definitely Marva King. She's singing the theme from 2001: A Space Odessy. That's why the song is often referred to as Osama/2001. Pretty eerie to hear Prince singing about "Osama bin Laden gettin ready to bomb...2001 y'all" and then a couple of years later in Sept 2001, that's exactly what happened by none other than Osama bin Laden. Definitely a "Twilight Zone" moment. "You've got to believe in something... why not believe in me?"

Indeed! That is hard shit to sing, dig that! And Prince already wore her voice out during the concert... and at the aftershow he just goes on and on and on...
it was great to be there and witness that, I can tell you that!
