I never understood why people felt they had to have every single show the man's ever performed... until now My new found love for that funky ass Osama track (on the Are You Gonna Go My Way boot) has me dying to hear EVERYTHING. Prince, without thinking, can break out the funk & make you drop to your knees Though I'll never be a completist myself (not enough time or $, lol) I can understand

The solos are some of his best work ever...forget Joy in Repetition on Ain't it Over Yet?

and the way he keeps crying, "no more!!!" cause the crowd keeps asking for more and he's so knackered. classic Prince!

I know where you're coming from CalhounSq. There's lots of other stuff that I would love to have in my collection. But once you realize the sheer volume of stuff that is available on the Black market, you quickly realize that it's just not worth the money or time to collect EVERYTHING. Best to keep a few bootleg tracks or cds on your "to do" list. And then when the opportunity comes along you're ready. Because there are a few very, very good boots out there, but I would guess that 90 percent of what is availble is just pure garbage in terms of overall sound quality or lack of "special" or unique performances by Prince.

I usually only buy specific boots based on the personal recommendation of someone I trust or if I've heard the boot myself. Other than that, even if the boot is available I won't buy it.

I LOVE his version of "stairway to heaven" on the '93 live at toronto boot... it's a classic.. prolly my fav live p track of all time

The reason is because every now and then, Prince will do a "one-off" performance of a song that he's NEVER done before (whether a cover or an original) and the poof! it's gone from the setlist and you never hear it again.

The Osama track is special because if you know anything about Washington D.C. and a funky style of music called "go-go" that was popular in the mid to late 80's then you know that Prince has NEVER performed that exact style of music. Even though it's just another form of "funk", it's still different and unheard of by Princely standards and it comes off extremely well in a live environment. Makes me wonder why he never added such a sound to his aftershows before then.

Do you happen to know if it's Prince singing that high note or if it's a drop of some kind? I can't tell, but it definitely sounds like someone singing...

I'm not sure which high note you're referring to. But the only high notes that are being sung that I can think of are the high notes being sung by his then backup singer Marva King. Not sure if you mean something else though.

Pretty eerie to hear Prince singing about "Osama bin Laden gettin ready to bomb...2001 y'all" and then a couple of years later in Sept 2001, that's exactly what happened by none other than Osama bin Laden. Definitely a "Twilight Zone" moment.
