Prince and Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis Hi orgers. I've often wondered what Prince truly thinks of the success of Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis. On the new condensate dvd, Jessie comments that Prince said nothing would ever happen for those two(after they were fired). Although that sounds Princelike lol, that was Jessie's account . I do think he mentioned they were more concerned with every song being a hit (this was from a rolling stone article I believe). However, he does say that Jam gives him credit for getting things going in minneapolis (kind of implying they were cool with each other). Any insight would be appreciated. Most things that I worry about, never happen anyway

I don't know really, but if it's any indication, played State Of The World, a Jam/Lewis written & produced Janet Jackson song on his 1989 NPG Radio Show, and covered parts of What Have You Done For Me Lately? during his 1990 Nude Tour, asking the crowd "who wrote that?". Obviously that was his way of acknowledging that he liked what Jam & Lewis had done, at least with Janet, at the time.

That story of Jesse's, it's a sentiment from 30 years ago, when they were fired, so I'm sure it doesn't represent any lasting attitude towards the pair.

I remember reading an interview Prince did just before the release of Emancipation. He made some comment about how he'd like to see the look on Jam and Lewis' faces when they heard his new music. From that, I suppose you can conclude that he at least respects their opinion and their work.

At the BET awards he was wearing a purple shirt and said "I wore this in honor of a good friend" and then everyone laughed. It seemed like he was being a little smart a$$.....
I do remember in 1996/7 I read an interview and it said Prince was trying to get back to MPLS so he could attened Terry's birthday party. Prime aka The Kid
