At our wedding, when we signed the register a couple of friends played & sung an acoustic arrangement of 'With You' - it was immense.

First dance at the reception was 'Adore', 'When 2 r in love' then '4Ever', going on with 'Partyman' then whatever the hell you like!

then we'll try to imagine... what silence looks like

Case of U, One Night Alone version from 02. i almost used the song at my wedding for the 1st dance but my wife preffered Ribbon in the sky, she's also not a Prince fan.

a case of u was on the one night alone cd recorded at paisley park. it wasn't on one night alone live which was recorded before the o2 even existed, or any o2 venue for that matter. the o2 used to be the millenium dome which was defunct at the time of that tour in 2002 but didn't open as the o2 (and was the first o2 venue i think, if not one of the very first) until 2007 when prince was one of the first acts to play in august 2007, years after the ONA tour. i'm not sure if he even played it on that tour

that was the recording i was referring to. By 02 i meant 2002 not the 02 Arena.. to distinguish from the version he played in 83.

Save it for the first dance or just the party instead.

It's your wedding... keep it classic. Your kids are going to watch the video someday, and you want to make choices that are going to hold up 50 years from now. You probably already have enough explaining to do about that tatoo of a midget crawling out of a purple bathtub, with doves mid flight.

I disagree, weddings should be personal. We've all attended way too many "classic" - or non memoriable snoozefest ceremonies. I wish mine had been more original, and reflected our taste and personalities.

If I was getting married again, Adore would be my first choice!!!

The only Prince song I can think it's appropriate for a wedding it's... The Beautiful Ones.

Try to find the full version on bootlegs, it's better than the album version.

Hi all

I've never been into weddings, but now I'm getting married I have to get everything sorted!
All my friends used to go on about what they would do for their weddings when we were younger, which used to freak me out, so I used to joke that I'd dance down the aisle to Kiss by Prince.

Now that I'm actually getting married, I'l LOVE to do that, but they words aren't really church appropriate LOL Anyone know of a funky instrumental version or can you suggest another song?

Bring it on!

B

If you dont know any, then why would you want one?

Any Prince fan would never need to ask.

Or maybe attention seeking

Was that really necessary? I quite obviously did not say that I don't know any and there's nothing wrong with getting someone else's view on something like this. I've been a fan of P since I was 10 but a song I might not have considered some else might think would be great so I can have a listen.

Why did you even bother looking at this post if that's the only kind of reply you wanted to make?

You can't go wrong with Pink Cashmere, especially with those beautiful Clare Fischer strings.

My wife and I entered the reception to Take Me With You. The drums on the intro still give me the chills when I hear the song. It was awesome.

my wedding song was:

Friend, Sister, Lover, Mother, Wife

and now 11 years later, she is my Best Friend, spiritual Sister, My lover, the mother of my children and my lovely Wife.

So that one worked for me! biggrin

I cannot believe noone has suggested this before:

If you have always said that you would like to dance down the aisle to Kiss - well, go for it, it is a great song, and it is YOUR wedding.

Maybe it has to do with me not being religious, but I think that a wedding should be a manifestation of the wedded couple's dreams for a perfect day.

as Mrs PC and I met at a Prince show, his music would always feature heavily at our wedding. We had a shortened catholic service and had the organist (my wifes Godmother) play Raspberry Beret at the end of the service and as we walked out as husband and wife. It had everybody clapping and singing along as most people were familiar with it. We were both so pleased we decided it and that my wifes Godmother played it so very well.

Also we named all the tables after Prince songs, our table was the 'Head' table lol Not many people really got that!!

Some other worthy mentionables are:

Forever in my Life

Soul Sanctuary

Take Me With You (exit song)...

his redition of Crimson & Clover

Adore

Nothing Compares 2 U

You said, "dance down the aisle," therefore YOU, must be cool and look good while you do this, and the one instrumental that would be funky and cool is the "STAXOPHONE MIX" of "The Most Beautiful Girl in the World." You can start if off with "KISS" and mix in the "STAX."

You can bob your head to the side, do a little step skip (slower than the traditional bridal march), if your parents (both) are giving you away, they can learn the little step skip, let someone record it and we can all see it on YOUTUBE.

GO FOR IT. I await the YOUTUBE upload.

That is brilliant!! Love it!!

Wish I could do that but my other half isn't that into P - I take him to concerts and he enjoys it but it doesn't dig it LOL Therefore I have to make it subtle...

Oh how I'd love to do it, but it's a Catholic wedding and I have to pick 'church appropriate' music - d'oh
