I think the only albums of the past 10 years I actually listed to are TRC and 3121 (and to be honest I don't think I will ever bother expanding my view), and I believe it is on none of them so I would have no clue if it is classic prince and / or wheter I would like it or not

You must not care much about Prince; if you're a fan of his, I'd think you'd at least listen to all of his albums to see if you like them or not. Just because you don't like every album or every song from recent years doesn't mean you'll hate every album. Lotusflow3r [the album this song is from] got a lot of love (and hate), so I'd say it's worth checking out.

Yes any real Prince fan has heard all his albums...at least if you have been a fan for more than a few years. There's nothing wrong with just buying "The Hits" and enjoying it but those aren't the kind of passionate people who frequent here.

I'm guessing that person probably hasn't been happy with his recent albums, but that's no reason to completely ignore him now. If you loved some of his music, then surely every album is worth at least one listen?

that's correct - all his latest albums are collecting dust. I have them but for some reason I never get to it other than the two mentioned. I bought the Lotus 3 CD thing just to keep the collection in good shape but I think it is still wrappend in plastic. There are simply too many new great bootlegs from the glory days out there these days to collect and listen to. If I have one hour free time and need to consider either (for example) Night before the Reign or the Lotus Flower, then this decision is taken rather quickly

a zebra that is (and a fucked up afro)

but back to the topic - somehow I was triggered by the fact that apparently some good songs pop up on his newer albums, which I was unaware of. I think the problem is that Prince hardly acknowledges this considering his set list of his concerts (basically from 2004 onwards) with many (too many?) songs from the 80ties. If you have an album out and you think it is worth listening to, just play the damn music (IMO)

I think this is one of P's best songs of the past 10 years... is anyone feeling me with this?

I sure am. I think this song is awesome. Talk about a live in studio sound. I was and still am blown away by it. I understand people hate it but I just shake my head at that and find it really unbelievable. I think folks who have stated they disliked it only do so because it is attached to Lotusflower website memories. But it seems like dude is stretching here or at the very least doing a left turn type of song. This song is wild. Its odd how he obviously favored the slow burn rock of Coilonized Mind to this as he rarely played this one over Colonized Mind and others songs from LF project.

Brilliant Song. And your Rolling Stones symbol is appropriate. It sounds like a funkier, weirder and harder Stones' song.

Yes I agree 100%! And as someone else said here it is SLAMMIN'

Agreed!

I think that this is some of his best studio release guitar work ever!

Quirky music, quirky lyrics, killer on fire guitar work. Pure Prince!

Excellent!
