JB sometimes did hundreds of gigs per year, not to mention at one point in his career he was putting out tens of singles a year off the back of multiple albums.

Shit, can't believe i'm going to say it but somebody like Rihanna is far busier than Prince.

- Today, maybe she is. Prince isnt the same workaholic anymore. Well, if he is happier now, that´s fine for me.

I LOVE James Brown. Let me start off by saying that. James Brown is, was, and always will be one of the greatest entertainers to have ever lived in this, or any other, generation. I was so saddened by the news of the death of James Brown, and he is one of the few musicians who had me in tears when his death was announced. And James Brown has the reputation of being the hardest working man in show business. And, he was indeed a hard working son of a bitch, but...

...is it kind of overkill? Could it possibly be a true fact that Prince is indeed the hardest working man in show business?

I'm just curious about the opinions of those here on the org.

Nuff said ( bolded ), P is EXACTLY that ...

Peace ... & Stay Funky ...

Nana Mouskouri is working harder all. lol

During the 50-year career she has released over 300 albums and ranks in the top 10 best selling artists ever.
The classic example, when quntity over qulaity.
Seriously though, James has earned his title in the 60's especially, he worked very hard and efficiently.

Although the music would not have lost anything if James and the Prince would not let some of their albums. Too many fillers sometimes. cool

Nah James holds that title still. Prince has held up quite well but he still can't touch James at least at the way James ran his business in the '60s and '70s and throughout his entire career.

Prince is definetly up there but James was the hardest working man in show business. Prince released an album every year during his peak, James released several albums a year during his peak

Thats not true lol. Just a few weeks ago folks in assoc artists forum were even talking smack on how hard Prince made everyone including himself reghearse. I believe it was the "Dez not at rehearsals" thread.

However, I agree that such titles as THWMISB and The Queen of Soul are lifelong and stamped forever for James and Re even if someone else comes along that deserves the title later on in life.

I read that bit. I'm not surprised though. Usually it's the really prolific artists who show that hunger for success early on.

Plus, he probably pattern some of his rehearsals after JB...

Remember, the first thing he asked Alan Leeds, was to tell him about JB biggrin

- Albums or singles? Let´s not forget that Prince may have released one album/year, but he did almost everything by himself and recorded hundreds of outtakes, not to mention writing, producing, arranging, performing most instruments for The Time, Vanity, etc.

James did the same thing with Bobby Byrd, Lyn Collins, the JB's. Only thing he didn't do was be a multi-instrumentalist (he had limits). lol
