It's my favorite song from 20Ten. It's not amazing, or even that memorable, but it's fun and catchy - so I like it a lot. To answer your question about "Let's Pretend We're Married" - yes, I hear it. I think that was brought up on this site when the album first came out. People said "Compassion" sounded too much like some of Prince's older songs, mainly because of the beat.

Compassion is a great song. It never struck me when I first got the album but I listened to it again last week and I realized it has some great lyrics. It's the usual Prince style where you kind of have to decipher it a little but the bridge to this song is quite clever.

Plus it has an awesome boogie at the end.

If you placed it on D&P, it would actually compete with Jughead for worst song. Jughead would win for worse song of course, but it would seem less jarring.

It's the weakest on the album I think. Sounds like a cheap uninspired imitation of Let's Go Crazy to me. But I really like the rest of the album though.

Nah, I like "Everybody Loves Me". It's playful and deliberately tongue-in-cheek. "Compassion" on the other hand reeks of pretentiousness... as if the rest of us don't know that compassion is a good thing . I dunno. That's just the vibe I get.

"Compassion" - kind of light pop-rock,

reminds me of Cybersingle.

It's ok - "Compassion", I don't hate and don't love it either.

It's super-lame, but I don't hate it.

The silly self-conscious use of Linn samples etc is to it's detriment I think. Might've sounded better live or studio live since it's so Vegas-y. Bit of a retreat of Play In The Sunshine et all - it needs to be followed by a big sink into evil and depression of a track since it's so happy-clappy.

I love the music, the lyrics are a bit sappy

The music actually reminds me of Tick Tick Bang, seems to have a bit of that New Wave touch

yeah but without the throbbing, pulsating groove that lets u know prince is gonna be fucking the taste out of your mouth. let's pretend is a purple masterpiece, compassion is a sketch.

Yea I like Everybody Loves Me.... it does have that Yo Gabba Gabba feel to it but its FUN

there's a remix on another website (google might help ya) which mixes compassion with Let's pretend, and to be honest, it makes the song so much better. I can actually listen to that remix. Plus it's only 2 mins long, and that helps immensely.

I like it, if only for the fact that it's less cringeworthy and vomit-inducing than Resolution, as far as Prince's latter-day Power 2 tha Paisley People Positivity Productions go.

I like it. Sounds like another throwback to 70's style revival mood musical music like something from Hair or Rocky Horror.

very much a Rocky Horror rip off, vile, just vile song but the sentiment of the lyric is at least is well meant. Lol, the pre CD hype described it as the new 'lets Go Crazy' !!!.

The funnny thing is that in a sick way you have to admire P for being as bold as brass or as nutty as a fruitcake for having the balls to put this out.

It's not memorable, but it's still GREAT! It gives me of the feel of '1999' for some reason. lol
