He's been doing that since the 80's. It can't really bother you that much if you're still a fan 30 years later. When go 2 a Prince concert or related event it's all up in the house but when log onto this site and the miasma of bitchiness is completely overwhelming!

Prince will never be the accessible guy that everyone wishes he would be. He's always been intensely private and aloof to the public. We all know what happens when celebs make themselves too accessible to the public...(aka Michael Jackson-and I don't think he was a child molestor). Prince is being wise to keep his professional and private life as separate as possible. He doesn't want to be mobbed, he doesn't want his privacy invaded and, most of all, he wants to keep an aire of mystery. Look at everyone talking about it!! LOL

Very funny Efan - I similarly see Prince announcing he's about to get busy then sitting at desk and filing tax returns, etc....
I think, underlying all this, is my heartfelt desire for Prince to stop playing other people's songs and only play those hits he likes to make much mention of.
A petty little point, at the end of the day, but one I truly wish would come true... a Prince concert full of Prince material.

Well I guess? I have not been a fan for over 30 years..LOL. He did sign autographs in the late 80's, around the Lovesexy era. However, I can see how it becomes 'Common place' after a while, I mean it's Prince. You're an Honest Man! It's Button Therapy, Baby!

How do you know what Prince wants to be seen as? Regardless, its a fairly ridiculous example - plenty of rock'n'roll, soul, pop even rock stars (particularly American acts) have expressed a strong spiritual side, or fervent belief in God, regardless of whether their lifestyles embodied those beliefs.
And its fairly clear you didn't think about your examples before rushing them out to "prove" what you believe to be true. Little Richard became a "born-again" Christian sometime in the late 50s, even quit music, then returned to play people Gospel. Ali, well, he changed his name because of his faith and changed it to one that meant "He who is worthy of praise". Isn't changing your name due to religion tantamount to "wanting to be seen as spiritually enlightened", whilst completely lacking any humility with all the banter and the very name's meaning?
Whether someone likes the bravado or not, Prince isn't exactly lying - he's had plenty of hits, more than many individual acts. Its par for the course in the entertainment industry (and sports) and isn't anywhere near as ludicrous as many modern acts who are incredibly egotistical without having the credentials to back it up! ...we have only scratched the surface of what the mind can do...
