Lead guitar on "3 Chains O' Gold" has to be Prince, cuz Michael Bland said they recorded the song in one take.
Who doubted that Prince played bass on "2 Nigs..." ?!!

Prost! i highly doubt that 3 chains of gold was recorded in one take.there are so many chord and tempo changes. Why would levi say it's him soloing on 3 chains of gold? Well i doubted if it was prince on bass on 2 nigs song because he played with a pick, and solo is very sophosticated with jazzy voicings |

I am a guitar player. I am a very good one, too. I can tell you for a fact that Prince did not play the big shredder guitar solo at the end of that song. He cannot play those types of lines that cleanly. I can tell by the sound of it that not only did Levi play it, but he likely used the same Ibanez guitar he used on the live version of Live 4 Love on the D & P video tape. The guitar was humbuckers and had that compressed, basswood sound. Prince definitely played the guitar solo after the section with the flutes AND the sloppy, way too loud harmony guitar that buries Levi's at the end of his solo. I've never talked to Levi, but I would bet my soul, (if such things existed) that my theory is absolute fact. Ask Levi. Ibanez RG model. |

I also play guitar, and I would say that the guitar sounds alot like the humbucker on the Cloud guitar... possibly the Symbol guitar.

Prince did not play the guitar solo on "Little Red Corvette". Dez Dickerson did! Fact. He rips it to shreds live today, but Dez played the solo we all know and love

The symbol guitar didn't exist yet, but I totally agree that it was on the cloud. I do remember him playing that song at a show for the filming of the Ryde Divine concert at Paisley Park, and Prince played the solo. TRUE BLUE |

I believe it IS Prince, but for exactly the opposite reason. It's not very clean, and it is hardly impressive compared to what the shredders do. |

Exactly. Don't forget the song and the album are attributed to Prince & The New Power Generation!! It's not like Prince is actively out there denying that it's Levi...
Having said that, I'm going to crank this track later and I'll get back to you as to who I think it is...

Interesting!
On a sidenote: Princevault maintains that Prince plays drums on The Most Beautiful Girl while this is obviously Michael Bland. And it wouldn't surprise me if it wasn't a complete band-performance (plus James Behringer on guitar).

Well, unless I'm much mistaken they are the same version (mixed a little differently), but the GE-version has a different (and terribly cheesy) ending Stop the Prince Apologists ™ |

I don't know, maybe he did play it, but to me it sounds like Prince. |
