Prince and Guitar Center-Possible Promo Idea for Possible Album or Tour

I was just wondering, if Prince decides to release another record or even a DVD, he could do a deal with Guitar Center, where Prince gives an exclusive interview, where he talks about his musical instruments (guitars, effects, which guitars he uses for recording and playing), his influences as a guitar player etc. Play a concert at a Guitar Center location, play new tunes, and invite special guests to jam. Eric Clapton, Slash, Jimmy Page, Tommy Stinson and other rock musicians have done similar things. Most of them have done these things to promote a tour, book, etc. I used to get an instrument catalogue from Guitar Center by mail and there would be articles from various guitar players that guitar fantatics would read. Guitar Player is another avenue for Prince.

Also, since Prince's induction into the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame, many people who slept on Prince as a musician, because of his image as a pop star, song and dance man (as Bono put it), have new found respect for P. He's already got his props from BET, MTV and even RS to a degree. Every artist is trying to reach new people and turn them into fans, and this might catapult him to a new phase in his career. The caveat would be Prince , would have to be willing to bypass the MTV/106 and Park crowd and go for the musician's musician demographic. "Lotus Flower" is a guitar heavy record, I feel like he can build on that.

ok, but lots of speculation and wishful thinking, haha.. lol

seriously, it seems like Prince isn't into making it big again, a "new phase in his career"?

I don't think Prince cares about "his career" anymore, maybe we shouldn't blame him since his "new" music isn't that interesting...

imo. wink

Prince is incapable of having a coherent conversation about musical technique and equipment. Interviewers have tried in the past, and he just turns everything into the usual mix of industry gripes, religion, and wacky social commentary.
