My name should give it away. It's my all-time favourite Prince song, because it's just so completely pure. It's a song that seems to have gotten 'from page to stage' with about 0% interference from any diluting forces. Pure bliss.
Like others, I really don't get the comparison between these two songs, though. |

I'd take IWUH as it, (so far) seems to be a pretty original idea whereas Cream is nothing but a very good T. Rex Get It On (Bang A Gong) rip-off. Really. Musically and lyrically. There's really no excuse and no disputing it, but it sure is fun to listen to. | |

"Cream" was a slightly glam rock tribute song almost (shout out to Marc Bolan/T. Rex) but "I Wish U Heaven" was majestic because not only of the gospel overtones in it but the fact this had three parts on it.
My personal favorite is "Take This Beat, aka I Wish U Heaven Pt. 3".

I have never understand the "Gem" seen in 'Cream'. I really don't think it is a fantastic song. It gets no where for me, unless LIVE. I like the LIVE version much better than on the CD. Or even the acoustic version, but as I said; it's nothing I really like that much. I don't know to describe it, but it just is not my thing.
BUT I wish U Heaven, I can talk about ALL day. Haha, The lyrics and the melody is so perfect. The arrangement and the video. It just is a work of genius! It just represents 'Lovesexy' Perfectly. It wins over CREAM any day for me. Even live, 'I Wish U Heaven' has more of a an edge over cream. Although he has not played that live in ages! Haha. NOW...Everybody say.. my first instinct is to say that I like "I Wish U Heaven" more, but then I realize that my opinion of it has diminished greatly over the years. still love the extended version, but the album version (or even Part 1 of the remix) doesn't really do much for me these days.
Cream is a little overplayed, but I probably still get more enjoyment out of it these days than I do the standard version of IWUH | |

I Wish U Heaven is fantastic, and I am european >>> not american.
I believe it's an american thing to dislike Lovesexy, we europeans love this fine pop-funk masterpiece. IWUH is beautiful, the 12 inch is one of my fave and I love the album version a lot too..
