Prince and the NPG need a break It just seems as if they r on burn-out level. Perhaps, the show at the Tacoma Dome was not really needed. Maybe, they should have stopped with Canada and rested from there. Look at all the shows in Europe very recently...then Welcome 2 America...they're only human.
Folks, let me add...I have a funny feeling the Washington show might be the last time we see the NPG in its current form and we could be in for change that's just me though
In terms of format...as in the medley's...I also think Prince might change things up the next time he tours....but again,
that's just me...and I still and always will have maximum love for Prince and the NPG

What makes you think all of this? Just a hunch? Anywho, I wouldn't mind if they take a break. They've given us so much good stuff this year.

From what I've seen, they've given their all to the fans this year & funked their sock off big time!! Time for some QT, to enjoy the fruits of their labour...oh & have a very Merry Christmas guys!

u know, just signs of things i have observed over the last few weeks, in terms of what is happening musically, how different people experience the music, the tours. also, i feel as if change, in a Princely way would be refreshing 4 the whole experience; sorry if I am being vague No justice, No peace

Yes, they have. They have demonstrated what musicians can do with their instruments and their voices when the focus is on the music, and not too many extra gimmicks. They worked very hard. No justice, No peace

Y'all see Andy's latest photo on fb? Beautiful photo of her but she lookin' sad Maybe I see 2 much but her arms/hands r reminding me of Prince doin the whole Stauros thing. Is he/she feeling sad, persecuted or hard done to? Don't worry, Cuz everything will b alright

I also notice she put back,to Andyland perhaps implying that she will no longer be livimg in Princeland and touring with the NPG. Although I'm pretty surr he took that pic of her so I'm not sure. I actually really, like them together and he seems happier with her around. I guess we shall see. I know he hinted at a tour in the UK and Liv stated on her twitter that she's looking forward to 2012..I'm sure we'll hear an announcement soon. I agree we may not she the current NPG lineup though.

I hope Prince takes a nice long break until January/February. He definitely needs a break. I want a new album in 2012. Hopefully he does shows here & there next year. I also hope he has a new, better, tighter configuration of the NPG. We need all we can get cause he's the last of the greats who are still worth following.

Maybe she's going to cameroon for the holidays?
Prince never has his protege's smiling in most photos he takes. I guess cuz he doesn't like when people show their teeth in pics

The Tacoma show was good not bad. And Maceo was on fire that night. (I was actually there-some of you may have seen the show even though you weren't there ) 99.9% of everything I say is strictly for my own entertainment

He needs a break to work with The Revolution! The expanded version of my book PRINCE and The Purple Rain Era Studio Sessions 1983-1984 was released in November 2018. (www.amazon.com/gp/product/1538114623/ref=dbs_a_def_rwt_bibl_vppi_i0) or www.facebook.com/groups/1...104195943/

I think the problem is that The NPG does so many shows... But all in the same place. Prince tours Europe; and does a lot of shows in the same vicinity, same with the American shows, he did a lot near Greensboro, and that area of the east coast, as well as the NY/NJ shows. Then he also performed a bunch of shows in the Los Angeles Area. 21 nights at the forum....? For what? Why not do 3 shows, then move to a state that you haven't performed in a while. Do a show in Ohio, Indiana, Texas, or Illinois, where be has fans As well. He pretty much skipped the whole midwest. There are fans all over the place waiting to see him, but he never comes close enough for them to travel. I had to drive 8 hours to Toronto. just to see him, where he did 2 shows there, as well as other places, eventhoigh the Canadian tour was spread a little more, city wise. But the Saturday show in Toronto was Definatly not full. So why didn't he just do a Friday show, and move onto the next city? Wrapping this up, I just think prince needs to take a 2 month break, switch a few members of the NPG, and go on a full world tour, under one name, (not welcome 2 america, Canada, and Europe. Only one name "Prince Live" or whatever..) hitting different cities, not all the same cities, performing Multiple nights. and I'm sure his group would sound AND perform better... Just my opinion. "From The Heart of Minnesota, here come the Purple Yoda, guaranteed to bring a dirty new sound... Come on Ya'll!"

nice pic and nice mirror. Thank U. (a new pic to me).
About that break, I have my own break from Prince music these months, I am a bit tired by his latest releases... You don't have to follow him do you..?

I have been pondering this. 4 long time fans, it's almost as if something is expected of Prince. I do not want 2 suggest something is missing...but something is expected. From my humble perspective, it's gotten down to this. Prince is not really being himself. What made Prince unique was the blending of different musical genres. What we see him doing now, and this is open to debate, is separating them. So, you have rock songs, ballads, gospel-style funk...etc.
What happened to jams like 3121 (the song) which I think truly describes Prince's hybridisation of genres? I think Controversy live captures this, but there's so much more. Electric Chair. ARTWIAD (live, band version). Hot Thang (live, band). U Got the Look captures this groove. There's so much more. Sometimes I wish the emphasis would not be so much on "hits." Damn, where's the Prince who said something like "what is a Grammy?"
I think smaller venue jams would be a great place 4 Prince to really get deep into his catalogue.

The tour from Europe 2 America seemed really interesting because we saw certain evolutions
I hoped that he would have used this tour to bring previous band members in for periods of time
It was always exciting when Sheila E joined the band, hopes for Bobby Z playing Purple Rain, NYC and a few tv shows had the Twinz dancing, it would have been cool if he had Revolution/protege band member join for a period

I'm always excited to see what Prince has next, however I agree with you! I think he is taking some time off to get back into the creative process. Which is fantastic. "Welcome 2..." Has become a very fascinating agenda, and ultimately it opened more doors. Many fans were made! His North Sea Jazz Festival, Hop Farm, Way Our West. Prince has really done so much this past year! This tour was extensive, and I think He will always have some new tricks up his sleeve. I;m anxious to see what's next. Some new program of things!
The NPG have been of very diverse during this tour, notably Andy Allo has really welcomed a more flexible structure to his creativity. I think she should stick around more, but I really hope be brings back SONNY T, and Shelia. E. So many other NPG members who highlight the genius of this man! I am expecting much more to come.
I feel an album will be out soon, and whatever is to come. I am expecting. You never know with Prince, but once thing is certain! THAT MAN IS FUNKY, and creative! He's beginning endlessly!
I want a new work in his program, a shattered diverse Setlist, and a new manifestation of purple magic! Haha [Edited 12/22/11 10:49am] It's Button Therapy, Baby!
