Well I have 100% zero experience with this kind of thing, but I think that if Prince was a bit smaller in your work, so that more of the background could be seen, then I think it would be quite a tasty artwork indeed. I also agree with others in that the second skin colour you posted looks better.

It's art. Take opinions with a grain of salt. I completely understand with where you were going with the creative color scheme. I like creative use of color like the famous Obama "Hope" posters.

To me it was the combination of the corpse skin tone, the closed eyes, and the death flowers strewn around him that to me gave it a forensic vibe. But it was not necessarily the skin tone that I didn't like.

Art is subjective, and to me art is not just about the facade, but what that you take away from it and how it communicates your ideas. To me, If this was for his eulogy it would be ok.
