Hi!

So, we are reaching the end of our polling project. It's time to rank the songs that have made it into the final round. Although this time the number of songs is high, all or almost all of them are well known for Prince fans. You're sure to have fun ranking them. The result of the poll will be a very interesting resource: the best Prince songs as voted by his fans in prince.org.

The poll says it ends Sunday, though Javi might have to shut it down early if people discuss the preliminary results (which fortunately hasn't happened in any recent polls).

I just voted. It didn't take as long as I expected, even though there are lots of songs, because I know almost all of them by heart, and the previous polling gave me a chance to think about how much I like each of them. It will be very interesting to see the final results.

Electricberet beat me to it. It'll be closed on Sunday. In Spain, we have 9 hours more than the official org time. I'll close it before going to sleep, so aproximately at 15 hours, org time.

Me too. Sometimes we can be negative about the crazy dude, but the fact is that it's very difficult to find such an impressive catalogue in another musician.

This is a celebration of Prince's music. That's the way I see it.

Where in the world are songs like "The One", "I hate U", "Gold" and "The most beautiful girl in the world"? IMO four of the best Prince songs. If these had been on the list my choices would have been:

1. The One

I hate U

Old friends 4 sale

Electric Intercourse

2. Empty room

... and then the list would go on. But disappointing to my taste that two of my top choices were nowhere to be found. But that´s life I guess

In my opinion the "Lovesexy" title track should be at the top of the list, but it didn't make the cut either. I also agree with you on "The Most Beautiful Girl in the World." However, the people who voted in the polls obviously have a different opinion.

Well, there I got my answer, electricberet. It´s been a while since I´ve been on the board regularly and I haven´t noticed that. I actually just saw this voting thing today. So I understand that most Prince fans don´t agree with me on this but I still find it strange that ESPECIALLY The One and I Hate U are not on the list. That´s a shame

I think it might be interesting to do the polls again in 5 or 10 years and see if people's opinions change. But for now, I'm just looking forward to seeing the outcome of this one. After it ends, we can have a debate about why some songs are not appreciated as much as they should be.

I agree. However I voted but honestly I stopped at 30 something. The list is too long.

Interesting. On the other hand, I saw several that are on my least favorite song list.

Yes, and I totally forgot about "One Night Alone" also, and like someone below mentioned; "Insatiable". But the man has too many amazing songs to choose from. I guess none of us will ever be completely satisfied with the list we had to choose from anyways, so we better do the best out of what we´ve got to work with. No matter what it´s a great initiative and a fun thing to do

Some of those songs didn't perform well enough in the first round to make it to the final round. We'll be able to talk about it soon. In the meantime, if anyone hasn't yet voted, better do it now before Javi closes the poll!
