Yeah, because that two-week thread included EVERY Prince fan known to man's thoughts on the subject rolleyes , which was just asking about that particular song and not lifeless remakes period, which is what FF was referring to (though we ALL know Extraloveable 2011 fits into that category right nicely).

FF, I feel you, my brother! No more of the plastic, lifeless, soul-less bullshit!!

Yay - 51
Nay - 25
Meh - 7

I mean, sure, not every Prince fan in the world but at least I bring SOME statistics instead of using the "we don't want" or "none of us" or "us Prince fans" as generalizations when we all each have of our own. That includes you and I.

If people were to fucking open their eyes and realize that then we wouldn't have bullshit comments like "You like that song? You should have your ears checked!"

I don't feel for you, brother. If you don't want "plastic, lifeless, soul-less bullshit" and you don't have anything productive or positive to contribute to a site you visit nearly everyday then I suggest resigning yourself as a Prince fan and STFU.

That's good advice concidering you're wasting your own time.

Peace the fuck out.

I remember he remade Feel U Up. The original was in the Controversy mind frame. The 1988 redo was in his Camille phase.

Wrong. The "Extralovable 2011 (yay or nay)" thread, the majority said otherwise.

I took the tally.

So there.

Good man, nice to know there are some fans with taste left....

The survey is not valid as people who really didn't like it would be unlikely to post on a thread about Extraloveable 2011....and the people who follow and post on a Prince fan site today are more likely to be into him NOW than all those others who don't post or lurk.

He just reworked the same recordings, it sounds very similar.

yeah i didn't comment on the extraloveable thread because i thought the remake was soooo bad that i felt like i would ruin the vibe for all the earless purple prince crushers that don't even listen to music and just think he is hot .. prince needs to stay far far far far far far far far far far away from rap .. prince was best when he had good musicians around him to lift ideas from during jam sessions and record the parts on the record as his own .. the more prince puts raps in his music the more it is clear that prince was never a one man band and his music rose and fell with the players he surrounded himself with, which have been crap since the wb split .. and prince using auto tune make me vomit .. it is the worse blasphemy of all princedom .. the guy that sang one of the best vocal tracks ever on kiss now thinks auto tune is an improvement on his sound .. prince the musician and artist is officially gone .. prince the studio robot who manufactures on an assembly line is now in full effect

Prince uses auto tune just like he used samples, just like he used simple synth voices or drum machines or a style of guitar effects. It's just a tool to get a sound. He's obviously not using it to correct his notes.

I guess you can say Camille was the factor in the difference. giggle

I agree. It ain't like he's using 100% like Drake or Rihanna or T-Drone or whoever... I didn't mind the autotune on "EL 2011". He surely didn't overuse it like Cher did with "Different Kind of Love Song" and "Believe" that's for sure. evillol

cher needed it .. and it worked .. prince uses auto tune to ruin his songs .. fact ! he might as well hire timbaland and sing a duet with justin timberlake at this point .. ANYBODY can sound like drake and EVERYBODY does .. prince used to use samples and wierd sounds as a jump off to CREATE his own sound .. not copy someone elses .. there is NOTHING good about how he uses auto tune NOTHING .. his songs would improve in leaps and bounds if he STOPPED RAPPING .. STOPPED HAVING GUEST RAPPERS .. and STOPPED using cheap stock modern production tricks .. a little more attention to his horrible lyrics and we might actually get a song worthy of the Prince name ..

old friends was acceptable

rave was inoffensive (the song not the album)

extraloveable is blasphemy

this is like if prince went back and rerecorded all his old tunes and asked tony m to put a rap at the beginning middle and end of each song to modernize them .. unfortunately this is completely a possible future reality

Prince did not use autotune on Extralovable, there was somebody on the EL thread that explained what that was. There's no computer correcting his pitch.

The only time I recall him using autotune is the LotusFlow3r era and Insence & Candles.
