It's not a boot but the Sign of the Times video version is the one that has always kicked ass to me. I need the visuals to go with that song. Prince starts off the movie with his press n' curls looking great. Ending the movie with The Cross and the hair looking shot to hell during the guitar solos...it doesn't get any better.

I prefer The Christ... much better evillol

I quite liked hearing Bono and Prince doing The Cross in Dublin (the Pod). Just for the novelty factor really, it wasn't a great version or anything.

So true. Definitely my favorite "live" version -- packs a lot more punch than others I've heard.

If you're looking for the boot of the SOTT video it's called 'Wonderboy'.

For some reason, he sounds like he's imitating Bruce Springsteen to me in that version.

Totally agree!

"U gotta live, for the man above, that man, than man, you gotta love!"

Such power in the singing!

Yeah, the vocal is great, but I think the music is not so good...

The version from the 2000 video, with the full choir behind him, and Mr. Larry Graham, that was beautiful, and still is.

also-

The Essence Awards, again with Mr. Larry Graham, and Chaka, and Rhonda.

I was most impressed by the LiveSexy version. A ton of energy in that performance.

The livesexy version has both brilliant and weak parts! The part at the end where Prince makes the Blue Angel wail is one of my most favourite Prince moments ever. Such anguish and beauty in the notes at the same time.

I tried to download that once from Kazaa & all I got was some dude making his way through the crowd to get into the venue (sounds like he stepped into the bar, they (U2) went into SOTT & he killed himself to get back in there lol you can barely hear Bono singing AND it cuts off after about a minute or so :X

Also, Nuthinbuttamuffin, I get the impression it's U2, not Bono & Prince... smile
heart prince I never met you, but I LOVE you & I will forever!! Thank you for being YOU - my little Princey, the best to EVER do it prince heart

After i saw that i was convinced prince had finally lost it. Not only did it seem he was content to put out crappy songs, but he wanted to destroy all his good ones from the past. The changed words, the over blown choir (what did he think he was Michael Jackson or something?), the awful preachy vocals of larry graham. It was just awful.

Thank god The rainbow children and ONA tour have restored my faith in the man.

Best version as a whole is the SOTT video version, its slightly speeded up an sounds perfect...the guitar playing at the end is brilliant. However the best vocal is the Livesexy video version..."do you believe it tonight...I know i do, then come on..."

So the best verision is some kind of hybrid of those two...if thats allowed.

now after a few minutes of laughter i can start my day. = "with his press n' curls looking great. Ending the movie with The Cross and the hair looking shot to hell" that's hilarious! Yeah man, that's the one.
