We don't know that. No one knows exactly what led up to this event. It's easy to blame Jesse because he was the first 'bearer od bad news' but that doesn't mean he was wrong or to blame for anything. I've read over the last 3 months how Prince mistreated/disrespected the members of the Time back in the day. How do we know that similar situations haven't arisen with the 7 members of problems they felt to big to overcome? It was alright for them to walk away from Prince but they can't walk away from each other? That's hypocritical thinking. He stated they weren't seeing eye to ey and that leaving now is better while they're still friends. Would you rather see them destroy their friendships so you can have a tour date in your town? When go 2 a Prince concert or related event it's all up in the house but when log onto this site and the miasma of bitchiness is completely overwhelming!

I've been hearing this shit for 30 years and I don't really question any of it, I have mixed feelings and have always had mixed feelings. Prince is playing near my town next week and I tell you, I don't really get as excited as I used to about seeing him mainly because of the endless shit he pulls. On one hand, why support someone so out of touch and downright meanspirited? On the other, he's still one of the best in the world at what he does and still a role model for me as a musician. Prince created the time and vanity 6 after watching the movie "Idolmaker", he wanted to put together puppet groups and filter out some of his extra material through them, he wasn't trying to build anyone's career, by all accounts, he's too competitive to intentionally do that. He also owed morris a favor for the song Partyup which seems to have benifitted Morris more than Prince (maybe we wouldn't even be discussing this now were it not for a song that most people don't even care for) However on subsequent tours the time became a formidable live band and didn't need anyone's help onstage, upstaging Prince and getting kicked off the tour as a result. Prince has described the time as like "creating a godzilla" which he has never done again with proteges. Now, the Time has plenty of fault of their own to own up to, if you know how musicians are, they don't get along that well in the best of circumstances, Jesse wanted to be a star, Morris blew his oppurtunity with all the coke and more or less, none of them (not counting jam and lewis)knew how to handle success with the discipline and work ethic that Prince had, you cannot blame that on Prince so whenenever Prince threw them a bone, they were in no position to turn him down, that is their fault. Morris could have had an acting career, the band could have continued to be a rival to Prince but they self-destructed before any of it could happen. Sad to say but we don't see bands like that everyday and I don't think Prince ever put it together to become what it did.

Of course we don't know the whole story, who said we did? but I am referring to his admission that he couldn't see 'eye to eye' with the members of the group, which apparently seems to be part, if not all of the reasons he chose to express his reason for leaving, and if he's getting some not-so-nice responses to that, well, that comes with the territory when you make an announcement like that on a social network, and it didn't come from all the guys as a unified group, making that news public to their fans. That's what I meant, when I said he only has himself to blame for the action he took in announcing his departure, the way he did. We'll just have to wait and see if any of his band mates, if they wish to, have anything to add about Jesse's announcement of leaving the group. That is all. [Edited 12/16/11 12:45pm]
