Prince's bass guitar - where to buy Hi,
I was watching some Prince concerts and noticed how funky Prince's bass is. Say I wanted to buy one, where should I look for it?
Thanks

That is a Warwick Thumb bass. The do not sell them with the "eye" graphics, so you will have to get someone to either airbrush it, or print some vinal applications. The Thumb clocks in around $5,000 new. Used for around $3,000. If you have it painted, the resale value drops to about 1/3.

When I found out how much the Warwick Thumb cost, I got an Ibanez Soundgear, b/c I knew from his 1999 Bass Player magazine interview (http://princetext.tripod.com/i_bass99.html) that the man had one and there was no way I was going to be able to afford the Thumb.
Of course, I have never seen him actually play the Soundgear, and I didn't really only pick it b/c Prince had one--but, still, it's kind of cool to know he does, or at least that he did. And, I like the bass itself. I have the Soundgear SR300 in Pewter, and even though I'm a newbie that doesn't really know anything about gear yet, I do really like its feel.

Haha, Feelgood! That's brilliant! I can tell you have an eye for detail, with the strap and all (and your interior ).
Still like the regular wooden Warwick as well...
