I wonder if seeing Prince is going to convert me into a more than casual fan though I know more than the average casual fan. I just bought a book on him I was going to give to my friend before the show....but want to keep it for myself too now

If you are going to see him in concert I think you will be very impressed, esp if you have good seats. I dont think any other musician can come close to Prince live. BTW, I'd keep the book for myself . Enjoy the upcoming concert & let us know what you think.. Have u had your + sign today?

I bought it for a bday gift, but feel worried the book may not be favorable, I bought it without thinking cause it was on sale
It's my first prince show and I'm excited. I got seats just a little above the pointy part of the symbol and ive been wanting to see him for ages! [Edited 11/13/11 13:48pm]

YOU'RE a "casual fan" ??? Whoa, if that's the standard then I gotta change my "fan level" designation to "Prince who?"

Oh stop, I've liked him since 86' alongside other artists, but as I got to know more of his songs, I found dozens and dozens I love, and then a bunch of others I'm not feeling. I don't need a stan telling me how to appreciate him cause I already know I have since I really young. I also believe he's one of the best performers of our time, an innovator in music, and I'm excited to see him perform for the first time.

I don't quite understand your response, but it seems you're upset. I just meant that you seem like more than a casual fan, based on your posts, so since I feel I am less of a fan than you are, I must not know Prince at all (b/c you are a "casual fan."). Does that make sense? It wasn't an insult. Maybe I should've put a smiley/laughy emoticon to finish it off. It's great that you will finally see him - I never have. I'm sure you'll have a great time! <--see emoticon, no hard feelings.

Nah not upset at all, I should have put a laughing emoticon after 'oh stop' I think being on this forum for 5 years definintely helped with appearing like that, I guess you could say I'm in the middle now. It's my first time, so I'm really excited I don't remember a time I didn't know him along with MJ and Madonna, and now I'm seeing the second one of the trio (had o2 tickets for mj but it was too late) [Edited 11/14/11 20:57pm]

That's like when I had Dizzy Gillespie tickets (I'm not that old - I was just into jazz from a very early age) and but then he died. I guess I should try to see Prince sometime soon.
So, are you converted now?

I LOVE Prince and enjoyed the show immensly and was emotional at some moments in time. You could read about my reactions in the Concerts forum if you like.
but the final verdict (no pun intended) is......
MJ!

What des that mean? Fuck the funk - it's time to ditch the worn-out Vegas horns fills, pick up the geee-tar and finally ROCK THE MUTHA-FUCKER!! He hinted at this on Chaos, now it's time to step up and fully DELIVER!!

It means this individual is more interested in a dead man who will never make music again than Prince. We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.
