I love Prince, and have been to 4 or 5 of his live concerts since 1980 (having paid as little as $8.50 to as much as $100 for a ticket). But I have not, and will not, go through any extremes to do so. In order for me to enjoy Prince, it has to be a smooth and comfortable process from the purchase of the tickets through to the attendance of the show. None of that camping out on the sidewalk for two days in the rain nonsense for me, for anybody.

My story is kinda mad in it's own but I'll let you judge.

last year during the 20ten European summer dates I so wanted to see the show had to restrain myself because well I'm Irish and had been so let down by that Croke Park thing and didn't want to waste a pile of money travelling to the continent to find a show cancelled.

Then the Autumn tour was announced and it kind tied in with dates that myself and wife had put aside for our holidays. (she isn't a Prince fan but she is VERY understanding). I gave her a choice of Norway or Denmark. She went for Norway!!!

So it began, Three concert tickets for Bergan ( three I was draging my 8 year old daughter too), then we discover that the concert was promoted as been 18 and over............so I contacted the owners of the stadium , who put me in contactwith the promoter ( a vey nice man I must say) who told me to just ask for him when I got to the door and he'd look after our family group, but things must have changed because I then got a call from him to say there will be a family friendly area.

Direct flights to Bergan there was gonna cost a fortune, so plan B was to fly into Oslo and take the train......train was sold out!!! Ok had a look at the map...Norway isn't that big...Hmmmm!!!??.......We meaning me decided to hire a car to drive over and take the train back to Oslo.

10 Hours driving!!!!

A Night train back.

Our Holiday was nearly all travelling and very little touring, relaxing or exploing.

But we got there and I enjoyed my concert but was told that they (my family) would like time off from Prince concerts, so even when he came to Malahide earlier this year they were not to be seen.

ps. Norway was a great choice for us ..even though we were only in the country for a couple of days a friendlier people I haven't meet...and this is from an Irish man supposed home of friendleness but we could learn a lesson or two from our Northern cousins.

Well, he was also up on the stage, front stage, dancing on this summer's Copenhagen concert.

I never did understand the need for people to get up on stage and dance. More times than not they make fools of themselves and Prince has been known to call them out on it...making jokes and such about certain people who are on stage. I guess it's just a need to be acknowledged by him that drives it.

Maybe, but I don't like analysing people's motives and psychologies.

The fact was that Prince invited a lot of people up there, and it worked very well in the context for the rest of us in the crowd. This guy and a woman were made to dance front stage, and they just let it loose, it was great, and a great way of ending the whole phenomenal show. It was like Prince gave the music and the party to his listeners and let us continue it without him. Great ending to a spectacular show.

JUST DID!

Came back yesterday from the craziest thing I'ver done in life, all for Prince!

Asked my boss for my holiday paycheck, asked the bank for some money...and bought tickets to Halifax, Montreal and Ottawa concerts.

Left Quebec city for Halifax, 18 hours of bus, came back to Quebec by train, another 18 hours...

Left Quebec city for Montreal the day after, 3 hours in somebody's car.

Left Montreal for Ottawa, 2 hours bus, day after the show, left Ottawa for Montreal, another 2 hours bus drive.

Finally came back home on Sunday night in Quebec city in another person's car, another 3 hour drive!

So now I owe lots of money to my bank, have nothing to eat for the next couple of weeks, but I'm seriously happy!!!

cool

Yeah, I love Graffiti Bridge movie, so what? ''Oooooooooooh Montreal, say it!''
If you can't be nice to someone on the net, you probably ain't worth much talking to in real life either.

I spent a lot of money to see Prince once. Sadly, it was during the Emancipation tour, which sucked. Happily, I got to see the aftershow at a country bar called In Cahoots and he played all freaking night on the crappy gear that the counrty band playing when we arrived was using. Rhonda used her own bass and amp, Kat used a strat that was already there and Jirky had his own snare and cymbals. Prince pretty much played keys all night and didn't sing at all. He played a Santana instrumental on the strat but otherwisae he just stuck to the keys. It was pretty fab. Working yet not sweating. Wow.

You should check with www.apostropheabuse.com before you start adding random punctuation to words just because the end with an "s".
