This.
It's not every day you get a maxipad jingle on a Prince album. We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

Nay
Only salvageable tracks were Act of God and maybe Sticky Like Glue or Lavaux... but in general very disappointing after the excellent Lotusflow3r set....

Yay i suppose, it's not bad, the only song i despise is Walk In Sand. Act Of God and Future Soul Song are killer.

Yay!!
Although I can do without:
The rap on Sticky Like Glue (WHY PRINCE? Without it, it would have been fantastic)
Act Of God (Just very poor..)
Sea of Everything (Easily one of the worst songs he has ever done, sounds like he could do it in his sleep, it just SUCKS..IMO, after listening to it now, it really disturbs me he would put something so simple and un emotional on a CD..He could have worked on a better ballad than this.
Everybody Loves Me (I just realized it's more cheesy than bad...lol. Sometimes I really love this song, it has a catchy beat and what not..lol)
Everything else is pure awesomeness for me! Haha
P.S It was also my FIRST Prince album that made me become a mad fan! [Edited 12/5/11 12:21pm] It's Button Therapy, Baby!

Very good album except for that hidden track. It wasn't hidden well enough because people found that bullshit. Andy is a four letter word.

You mean the one I lovingly dubbed, "the track that finally makes vainandy's head explode"? We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

Yay. A good album with several good songs like Compassion, Beginning Endlessly and Act Of God to name a few.
- E-mail - orgNote - ![]() |
Nay.
Generic, inoffensive, boring, formulaic stuff.
I rate it among the weakest Prince albums ever, together with Come, New Power Soul and MPLsound.
a 5 out of 10 album.

After more than a year I still don't like it. I think Future Soul Song is a bonnie wee trinket, but the rest just seems lifeless and dull to me. The good thing is that the copy I have in my collection never even cost me the price of the newspaper, and 90% of the copies that I did buy made me a tasty profit on ebay.

Yay with a bit of meh... | |

There are two or three very good songs on it that I like just as much as some of his classic songs but then again there is a lot of really weak stuff on it. Thing is...what I find weak is someone elses favorite song on that album, and what I like probably gives other folks a headache.
But I really love Walk In The Sand and Future Soul Song. And Sticky Like Glue is also nice but the rap part gets a bit on my nerves, I´ve never been a big fan of Prince´s rapping probably because I originally come from a HipHop background and I only like a couple of his rap attempts. There are probably a couple more songs on it that are OK or contain at least some interesting details but I can´t really listen to them as a whole without feeling embarrassed. Some of Prince´s newer music is the kind of music that makes you run to your amp to turn the volume down because you don´t want your neighbors to hear it.
But, like I said above, I really love those three songs that I mentioned, and it´s free, so I don´t have any complaints. Three very good songs on a mini album that wasn´t expensive and that looks at least a bit better than Planet Earth, Musicology or MPLSound is a success as far as I´m concerned.
So.......YAY !
BIG THANK YOU TO NUMBER 23 edit. ( later I bought the Rolling Stone anyway but still....thanks mate, you made it possible that I could listen to much, much earlier )

Yay.
Future Soul Song & Sticky Like Glue are amongst the top 10 best songs he's done post-2000. Lay it Down I could see getting play on Top 40 stations. That and maybe Lavaux. They're not great, but they sound better than a lot of the crap on the radio these days. Change it one more time..
