I've been wondering since the version we've all known for so long was never officially released for listeners is this new version a remake? Technically it's the studio version of a vault track. That would make the bootleg we know the rough cut or the outtake.

Andy's version of 'We Can Funk' qualifies as a remake because it was officially released on Grafitti Bridge.

When eye go 2 a Prince concert or related event it's all heart up in the house but when eye log onto this site and the miasma of bitchiness is completely overwhelming!

Do we hear a new vocal?

Different instruments?

I mean: we can discuss technicalities but as we knew the old 'bootleg' version this feels like a remake to me.

This version lacks the erhm..., energy I will call it, that the original version had in the delivery.

You're over thinking it. Something like the Guitar 'demo' could be considered a rough cut. This is a 30~ year old track re-recorded, so it's a new version - the original was a studio version, complete and shelved, so it's not a rough cut. It being unreleased is neither here nor there.
