At this point, I think it's pretty clear that some people should listen to his new music and some should not!

Well I was the first one to praise Lavaux, Sticky Like Glue and Act Of God :headbang: But ...ONLY BECAUSE it is a remake of an oustanding funk tune...it falls flat..had it been an original composition of another tune it might have been alright to my ears. I didnt say it was the worst thing ever. Straight Jacket Funk Affair
Album plays and love for vinyl records.

Hey now, I liked some songs on 20Ten ("Sticky Like Glue" - could've done without his rap on that too and "Future Soul Song" being the tops). [Edited 11/28/11 11:35am]

I didn't specifically mean you guys, but you know what I mean, some people write stuff off before they even hear it.
There's not much point unless they actually enjoy tearing it to shreds. My Legacy

WOW!!!
I'm really late
Two words: 1. Bad 2. Ass
I'd like a 'Crystal Ball II' in this fat, pulsating vein.

Gotcha. I won't tear the new version to shreds. It's not for everybody. Like I said earlier, people will dig it and others won't. It's human nature.

I take it that's another way of saying SHIT? [Edited 11/28/11 12:34pm]

You know...no one I know up here actually says eh. In fact, just yesterday I was asking some people how to actually say it, and I've been in Canada my whole life. [Edited 11/28/11 13:57pm]

I live in california, and I say it constantly! LOL My Legacy

I think Canadians say it subconsciously. We have a big constituency of Canadian snowbirds that come here for the winter, and they all say it. It's a dead giveaway. That, and they are all so nice. "You're from Canada?" I would ask, and they would say "How did you know"

Yes, I've heard it, the original version of Extraloveable, that is. What's your point?
How about explaining 'why' you do not dig Extraloveable-2011-A, instead of criticizing ppl like myself who have praised it, based upon the rhythm, the personality, the pure sonics of the song?

was able to download on iTunes today. Very cool. Thank you for new music. Not even going to compare to original, we all know they are different "So fierce U look 2night, the brightest star pales 2 Ur sex..."

iTunes has never used mp3, so that's not possible.

We'll have to agree to differ....i think most of the above are absent in this new version.

It's also on spotify worldwide btw

I see, I have never used it. Thanks for the correction.
Whatever format they used for the distribution of this track, it could hardly be called "high quality." 192kbs is a very low bitrate. Still, a lot of people don't care about that.
Thanks again.

Just bought it from iTunes US. Loved it in ripped-from-YouTube quality, love it even more in its full iTunes glory. And I'm happy that I was able to pay him for it.
Best Prince song in many years.

I have gone back to the original speed version and I think I prefer that. Part of my problem is that the boots of Extraloveable I've had in the past have been faster, so I'm used to that pace. Now that I've let it grow on me, I really get into the song once it starts pumping. I still have to have the rap edited out, however. It really gets in the way of the groove. I'm going to play with putting it at the beginning to see what happens.
Again: audacity is the audio editing program I used to make my crude amateur version. Make a copy of your file for safekeeping first, then have fun.

ITunes tends to use the Apple created AAC format, which is superior to mp3 and uses less memory but has better sound.
Ie. a 128kbs AAC is about the same or better than a 192kbs mp3.

Yeah, thanks. I was reading up about it earlier. Still a lossy format though huh? I wonder why they can't offer music downloads in Apple Lossless as well as AAC? Maybe one day.

^ Oh digi, while you are here, heard about the new Kate Bush CD? I thought'd u'd have her pic on again!!

Yes, I have it, bought on the day of release like a good little fanbot.

I actually like the track. its a grown up version of the original.
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
I agree. It's a very grown up version of classic. That's why I love this clip so much.

Cool...haven't got it yet...is it good?
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
let me answer: No. The new Kate Bush is not good.
I bought the cd monday on the release. Listened to it 3-4 times then, will probably never listen to in again. Tracks are 8 to 14 minutes, way tooo loooong, and nothing happens, her voice and piano are ok, but otherwise, no melodies they are drowned - running way too long. After Aerial - Director's Cut and now 50 Words For Snow I think Kate Bush has lost her vibe. Unfortunately, cuz I really admirer the 1978-1989 albums.
Sorry for being off topic.

I like it. I think, like her last album (Arial) it is an aquired taste, pop music it's not. Good for the headphones.

Well i'm kind of curious to hear it now. I like the way she just does what she wants, ie. release tracks that long, and she doesn't seem to imitate anybody apart from herself! That is impressive in light of certain other artists, ahem....
I didn't really get into the Director's Cut...I thought it was unnecessary and the re-recordings sounded rather amateurish IMO and didn't improve much on the original...I think there was only one song I thought was better...(Lily?).
I hope Prince doesn't do a similar thing to his back catalogue!
Anyway, apart from that, it's good to have her back on the 'scene' [Edited 11/29/11 14:58pm]
