We March & Strawberry Lake

Ok, so i'm listening to The Original 7Ven's CD, and i'm checkin' out "Strawberry Lake" and wondering . " man this song sounds familiar. Then it hits me . It sounds like P's song "We March" from the Gold Experience .

I just picked this cd up 2 days ago. When I first heard this song, immediately I got the feeling that it reminded me of Sly and the Family Stone's "Everyday People"

When eye go 2 a Prince concert or related event it's all heart up in the house but when eye log onto this site and the miasma of bitchiness is completely overwhelming!

It's in the same key as Everyday People (key of G). Strawberry Lake is a lot like Ice Cream Castles to me. It has the same bass and drum pattern

I heard that too ("Ice Cream Castles", too)... I doubt thought that Jimmy Jam would rip off an obscure mid-90s album cut.

("Toast to the Party Girl" sounds like Coldplay's "Viva la Vida", imho.)

Like a couple of folks have already stated it's more a Sly Stone "Everyday People" type of groove, especially when you consider the fact that Morris is singing the opening lines in a very Larry Graham inspired type of voice.

why not? didn't he do it with "I Hate U" for some Mary J Blige song in the 90's or last decade?

"does my cock look fat in these jeans?"

Not to mention the lyrical nod to Sly & TheFS by including the words "Hot fun in the summertime" lol
