Leaving For New York - ONA

I was listening to Leaving For New York this morning and it struck me again how similar it is in style to something off the ONA album, which is incredible given the near-30 gap between the songs and all Prince had gone through inbetween.

Does anyone hear the similarities in style? I wonder if it was a conscious thing by Prince or if he's always just enjoyed that piano style and decided he'd finally make an album in that style...

I think he just revisits his unreleased back catalogue for inspiration from time to time, always has. Check out the similarities of I Miss You from around the same time and Reflection of Musicology.

blah blah blah
