There are a few Prince songs I hate but I've never grown to hate a song that I enjoyed. The few that I hate were ones that felt pretty bad from the beginning. As for Musicology, I like it. Not one of his better songs but still good and funky.

sorry, Nurse:

I like this song a lot too, one of the best from that decade (that's not saying a lot, since there is very few good songs 2000-2009),

But I actually think the first half of the Musicology album (minus Life O The Party) is one of the better Prince moments in that decade.

> let's disagree on this song...... but that is ok.... wink

Well i think you could have formulated your topic in a different way and make it more interesting.

Off course it is possible.

With getting older your taste changes .

When i was a kid i only liked Prince playing distorted angry rock with less keyboards and acoustic drums banging.

I hated drum machines and synths and falsetto but now it's the oposite

.Give me linn drum and synths anyday smile

back to the song Musicology

I don't know if a funk lover can hate that song.

It have a classy bass line, cool lyrics with message.

Very nice synth hook similar to those he played on the Time albums.

It is quite good.

I remember some fans complained when it

was released because of the lack of classic chorus

but it isn't a pop song it is a funk song

and many funk songs have chant like lyrics so nothing there to complain about smile

Once you've heard it live there's no going back to the studio version.

It is 1000x better live with the horns....

You and I are so right there all the time.

The song grates on me. And I still don't know what he's talking about, "just East of Harlem"? The East River? Randall's Island?

I guess that’s why I stopped spinning that album after the tour. It seemed good at the time, but now I can’t even remember most of the songs.

funkomatic

Musicology is a song with potential. Unfortunately it doesn't live up to it. Maybe the reason why your enthusiasm waned.

There's a good rendition of it on the 2004 Leno interview, (where he was alongside Mel Gibson)...it's worth seeing just for the slightly odd interplay between those two.

I love the horns he adds to the end of it live....
