It's not underrated. It's generally looked at with fondness.

The problem is that the humor is unintentional. The script is not funny, it's plain foolish. Our favorite rocker is making a joke of himself in a role so silly you wouldn't want to give it to a monkey. The only good thing that can be said about this film is that it inspired Prince to write the fantastic Parade album. That's where his talents are.

Bogey and Bacall, peanut butter and jelly, Wall being on fucking point, is "classic" dipshit. An iphone is top shelf technology. Get it straight. This thing is 4g. -Wall the great

The humour is anything but unintentional

It's well scripted , witty and fun at times

Agreed Prince isn't that good of an actor

But overall i think it's a nice movie

The only problem is that the movie got weak in the last quarter of it. Other than that I think the movie is cool and Prince acted well enough. Had it been Morris Day as Tricky and songs from the Family (High Fashion. Mutiny, Screams of Passion, Nothing Compares 2 U, Desire and the instrumentals), Prince might have won another Oscar LOL. Just maybe.

I like the movie a lot, and welcome to the org! rose Remember to keep a sense of humor, and try not to take things personally. Most people here are helpful and kind. If you're ever unsure about something, orgnote a moderator or a fellow orger and ask for help. Back to your questions, my favorite Prince song at the moment is "All The Critics Love You In Montreux", performed at the Montreux Jazz Festival in '09. I also love Prince's cover of "Creep" from the Coachella Festival in 2008. Imo, there are few who can rival Prince's live concerts. peace

I loved this movie in '86, I love it now, and I'm just gonna keep on lovin' it 'til I'm dead. Screw the critics, this movie is a good time! If it ever gets announced on blu-ray, I'll be the first in line. cool

True but you have to bear in mind that in pure cinematic terms, it's a terrible, TERRIBLE movie.

I love it, but only because i'm a fan. I'm not an idiot!

I found the movie funny at the intentional humor.

The majority of the cast were bad actors but Prince and Jerome actually pulled it off the best.

And of course, it had kickass music.

PS. My favorite song at the moment is "Free" and "Beginning Endlessly".

Be glad that you are free, free 2 change your mind!

It's a completely rediculous yet charming movie. If it had been some little independent film with a cast of unknowns it probably would have developed a cult following. As it is, Prince's ego and the shadow of what the movie COULD have been with the budget it had will forever overshadow it. Personally, I think KST saves them film from being a complete farce...

Completely agree. Its a super cool movie, even if I say so as a Prince fan. But theres no doubt about it, its a very underrated movie. Fave song at the moment; in my mind, 'No More Candy 4 U' hard-rock styley.

I rather like Under The Cherry Moon. It's got a unique charm, especially the way it's clearly set in the mid-eighties, but is played like a 1940s film.

And 'Wrecka Stow' is still one of my all-time favourite funnies.

Oh, and Beginning Endlessly at the minute.

You have to watch the movie with the type of reaction you would have if you didn't know who Prince was before, and then you can see why the movie is rated badly.

Those pics cool Although I prefere Prince when he looked a bit dirtier and rough, you can't deny how pretty he is around this time, mmmmmm!

I like under the cherry moon, it's not as bad as some people say. But I think you have to like Prince to be sympathetic and sit back and enjoy it for what it is and not take it too seriously. I would love to see it in colour.

Really loving Elephants and Flowers right now.

I think the critics were merciless lol The movie is no masterpiece but there alot of funny scenes throughout. It was cool seeing the comedic side of Prince, especially after the dramatic Purple Rain.

this movie was pretty great .. maybe it was the not happy ending that ruined it for the public .. but I agree with prince that the happy ending does not suit the message of the movie
