Rainbow Children 8:03-8:04

Hey,

Maybe it has already been tackled with here on the org but does anybody have a clue what the voice (most probably Prince) is saying at the beginning of the coda in "Rainbow Children" (8:03-8:04)? I have never really noticed it before and when I was listening to it just a while ago I found it quite puzzling.

So what's up with that?

Peace

I think it's just instructions to the band,
It sounds like he says "key of E"
just before they come back in for the coda.

But the song is most probably (except for the horns) only Prince and John Blackwell.
I think he says "Give me the beat".

Do you mean when the guitar solo starts? I always thought he said 'Najee', after which Najee starts with flute at the same time with Prince in the same tone. After one tone he stops again though...

Anyone else heard 'Najee' or are you guys talking about sth else?...

Seriously, he says "Give me a beat". Listen to it on a decent sound system, its unmistakable.

In a sad longing for better days, P is actually saying, "Bobby, our drummer..."
